Slow page loading?

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but sometimes on my work Microsoft Internet Explorer is taking 3+ minutes to load a single Bhuz page. I often give up. I can't read like this. I'm in Japan, land of super broadband and this is only happening on this site.

Buttons also take forever to load. As I type not all my posting options (fonts, smillies and so on) have finished loading.

I've had this problem reported by just one other person. It's on my list and I will get advice from the Great Programmer.

Slow loading for me too!

Hi Rosey,

Bhuz is slow loading for me too. I'm in Hong Kong. It only seems to be Bhuz as well.

Because of the nature of the problem, people experiencing problems may give up before ever being able to post.

Same here, I'm in Dubai and its terribly slow to load pages on Bhuz. It's so frustrating but I've stuck with it this one time to get this post on.

We need your help with this. The only reports of slow page loading (i think) are from people outside North America. Here, the site is fast and responsive on all browsers (yes there's a messaging bug with safari.) So, could you please ask someone local for advice and let me know what they say.

Also, let's hear from others outside North America where the site is running fast so we help figure out what the issue is.

Working at normal speed here in the UK.
(I'm currently using IE here at work *shhh don't tell* on broadband, Mozilla Firefox at home on dialup)

Yesterday I was actully timing and after 5 min I just had enough. The Bhuz is so slow nowadays that I don't even want to come here and waste my time waiting.

I wish I could. My co-workers know even less about computers than I do and even if they didn't computer related terminology is a bit outside my Japanese range.

It doesn't happen at home on Firefox, so it may be foriegn IE specific...or with foriegn platforms running any sort of firewell? I know the work computers can handle animated flash, but they don't like it much , so pages with extra whistles and bells sometimes take a while.

To reply to things like this I hit reply, teach a class, come back and fill in info and then give up. Same goes for forums. I'm only longing in to update you. I've given up on Bhuz during peak hours of my day and the frustration I feel waiting for pages to load has started making me not want to check in at home...even though I know it'll be quicker.

The pages load within seconds, not 3+ minutes, if I use a school computer that blocks the header. I still get the ads on the side, the header is the only thing being blocked. I really think that the changing images and shooting stars on the bhuz header screws things up on IE running on a Japanese platform.

There are no problem with loading in Singapore & IE at least at my office... at my home loading is a bit slow (but still less than 1 minute), but it was so already before update so I thought it must be because of my computer being old and inefficient

Bhuz has been slow loading for me yesterday and today. I'm in the UK and using IE.

It doesn't take 3 minutes but it's v-e-e-e-r-y slow watching those little green boxes struggling to come up

I would recommend that you try two things:
1. First, download the Mozilla firefox browser. Use it just for BHUZ, and see how it does. To download, go to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/. It is free, it is a great browser with many good features.

2. You could try turning off the Flash player; that will shut down the header. Go to http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157 for directions on how to do this, or to http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/U...nstaller.shtml

Thanks. I already use Mozilla at home, have for years.

My place of work, where I have free time, has the computers rigged to toss out all downloaded/installed materials because of internet silly co-workers who can't be trusted to know safe when they see it. That means that I have to re-download and re-install Mozilla every day...I've tried it but it is exhuasting.

I am not sure that shutting off the flash player is as easy with the all Japanese format I have to work with. It may require me learning even more kanji. I will try it on Monday.

I've resigned myself to the fact that if it doesn't help that I simply will have to cut my Bhuz use and participation down 80%, to the hours that I am free and at home and kiss the swap meet page bye-bye(unless Bhuz gets a different header)
