HELP! I can't get photos to show!

Ah! I'm so frustrated. I am using the "Insert Image" icon, and plugging in my url, but it just shows a link, no photo. My photo account is Flickr, it always worked before on old bhuz. What's wrong with me? Help, somebody! I want to sell costumes! :)

I looked at the html, and for some reason, mine says:

"a href" in front of the url, causing it to turn into a weblink, instead of an image.

On threads where the author has successfully posted a photo, the html says:

"img src" in front of the url, which of course causes it to show as an image.

I don't know that much about html, but I know enough to know that this is crazy and wrong!!! I'm going crazy, please somebody help me.

when you do the insert image thing, do you ensure that the original html tag { http:// } are you pasting the url? if you are pasting the url, are you deleting that portion, always assuming your url has it already?

sometimes when I've tried to insert images, I forget to remove that and it shows only as a link.

awww thanks Kina. That was me 40 lbs ago... Wanted to lose 5-7 lbs in those photos, but I'd give a toe to be back at that weight now! I need to sell these costumes so I can get some moolah to buy a camcorder so I can start practicing again and drop the weight! aaah! Frustration!

I finally got some photos to work by uploading them to my bhuz profile and nabbing the urls from there instead of my flickr account. The photo quality is not as good, though. I'd still love some help on this. Perhaps it's because my flickr photo url begins with "farm2" instead of www..?

Maybe Flickr doesn't allow images to be hosted on other domains? You might have to post a link to the flickr page.

I think I figured it out, sorta. I transferred my account to photobucket today - not really because of this, but because they have a spot on your homepage that displays large thumbnails of "everybody's photos", as they are being uploaded I suppose. You have to click on it to get the thumbnails to go away. Well, I've never paid attention to that feature before, when low and behold, there was a nasty pornagraphic pic that popped up. I was so upset and disgusted. That should have been flagged by the user and should never have popped up in "everybody's photos". Bleck. Thankfully, photobucket doesn't have that on your own personal homepage.

Photobucket also has a handy feature where they'll list the url of your pic, modified for whatever purpose you want - images on forums, myspace, etc. I noticed that there was a slight difference in the IMG url they provided, and what it came up as when I simply went to "properties" to nab the url.

For example:

when I grabbed the url by clicking on "properties", this is what I got:

http://i214.photobucket.com/edited.jpg?t=1188878948

whereas, the IMG code they provide is this:

http://i214.photobucket.com/edited.jpg

(nevermind the incorrect techno terms, I probably make no sense when I speak computer.)

Anyway - what I'm trying to say is that I think it has nothing to do with which place you have your photos, but with the stuff that follows .jpg on the url(?).
