This is frustrating & ludicrous
FOURTH time trying to post re these problems . First three disappeared via Rosey's avatar.
I do NOT have the time to repeat & repeat - so that's problem #1
2) I want my REAL name/ sign-in back & it is Morocco - ***NOT*** "Aunt Rocky". I only remembered by accident that I had made a second, emergency sign-in with "Aunt Rocky" when the REAL one wouldn't work & you transferred the wrong one. PLEASE fix it ASAP & let me know.
I sent THREE prior requests for my sign-in info using my e-dress & never got an answer.
3) I can't CORRECT the location MISinfo you have in my "profile". I keep getting "that e-mail address is already in use" I did NOT try to change the e-dress.
Sorry, but I liked the old format much better.

Got it! My apologies! Our mail system wasn't working till a few days ago. It's done, Aunt Rocky is gone, you are officially Morocco. You will need to edit your profile page and add your avatar again.

I have to agree with Morrocco, I also like the old format better. This format is nice because it has all the graphics at the top, but unfortunately it take such a long time to download.

I can finally log in with a weird, unrememberable "password" they assigned, but I still can't get into my profile at all to edit it.

Rocky: its not just the problem you have, overall, I just don't like new site, too many graphics and gimmics and embellishments-my biggest compliant is that it takes forever to get into the threads.

I have no problems at all with the new format. However, I am familiar with vBulletin. Rosey has made it clear that the change was not done on a whim, but that the old software was imploding under the weight of the database, and could no longer continue. There's a learning curve to using the new forum, but on the whole I think it's great.
Morocco, when you are in the forum, go to My Settings at the top lefthand side of the page. You should be able to access your profile there.

It's NOT a matter of "learning curve" - I know how to mouse on a hotlink.

I am more computer savvy than average, but no geek. Wish I were. HOWEVER, I did *exactly* that & was told I wasn't logged in & then it still wouldn't gop there when I logged in again & again & again.
I do NOY have the time for it. Gotta go teach a class now.
Hugs, habibti,
M

hmmm
This new format has been no trouble for me from day one other than little glitches.
I suspect we will see some people leave based on not liking it but hopefully everyone will get used to it and enjoy it.
I still like it way better than the old format.

I am so in love with the fact that the search actually works, and I can get to the last unread post in a thread. For those two things alone the new software is an order of magnitude better.

I am starting to get used to it and will probably become accostumed to the new format as I had gotten used to the old format. Like TamrahennaTX said, there is a learning curve to get through.

I'm just a little frustrated because I can't get into the site with Safari, and Netscape freezes frequently when I'm on Bhuz for some reason. Which usually causes me to have to reboot my whole computer. So I find I'm bhuzzing just a little less most days.

I'm bhuzzing less then before too. Like anything new it takes time to get use to but right now I don't have time to spend trying to learn all the new stuff on it.

Since I switched to firefox for my browser, my life has been easier too. I never use netscape or explorer anymore. I'm not a techie or geek and can't tell you why or how, but my husband is, and put firefox on my computer ages ago and I love it.

I'm sure firefox is very nice, but I don't feel like I need a third browser. (well, I have a third browser, but it's IE, so PHLLLLT) Am I supposed to install a different browser for every website I like to visit? Aren't websites supposed to work pretty much cross-platform? (i know I tested my website with three browsers, and on a variety of machines, screen sizes & OS's before I took it 'live.')
Thing is, every OTHER website on the planet seems to work just fine in Netscape (and most of them work in Safari as well). Even other message boards with a format similar to this one - like orientaldancer , for instance.

well
Firefox is better than IE by about 10,000 light years so I'd ditch IE.
This site works fine in IE or Firefox for me - so use IE....I thought everyone in the universe jumped on the Firefox/Mozilla bandwagon before me...guess I wasn't the last person after all.
I love it. I love tabbed browsing. I do have to say the latest IE is pretty nice since it picked up the tabbed browsing thing.

I don't think the issue is the forum software. I think the thing causing the bottleneck is that flash-based banner. It annoyed me so much that I've turned it off. Flash is clunky, slow, and prone to causing problems - it's useful for doing things like flash games, etc, but it's really not a good choice for something like a banner, which there is no reason for the banner to be anything bigger or slower than a static picture.
The reason so many people are encouraging you to use Firefox over the other browsers you mentioned is because Firefox is basically the only major browser that is significantly standards-compliant, so it doesn't do weird unpredictable crap with web pages. (Assuming the code itself is standards-compliant) Also, unlike the other browsers you mentioned, Firefox has the capability of installing extensions that change and improve the function of the browser, so you can do things like install tools that block ads on every web page you visit, sync your browser bookmarks with del.icio.us, or even on-the fly translators integrated into the browser.
No one is saying you should need to install a new browser for every web page - just that using Firefox could make the most of all the web sites you visit, including this one.
