I think 'new posts' has a problem
It used to ONLY display the topics that had been added to since i last visited, now it displays ALL the topics since maybe Saturday . . . .in the 'new posts' order but things that havn't been updated for days. I have switched my computer on and off since then so it can't be it thinks I have been logged on all this time.

Ah, you hit the nail on the head. The site does think you have been logged in all this time. It is important to actively log off the site. The way you do that is by going back to the other part of the site and clicking on logout in the top right corner.
Right now there is a bhug that logs you out if you double click the big home button at the top of the forum.
Closing down your computer doesn't stop the site from recognizing you. If you see Welcome Zafirah in the task bar when you start up your machine it means you were logged in and you won't get the latest topics.

Hi, Rosey:
I logged out and logged back in again, and am still seeing pages of "new posts" I've already seen.

There's always the Mark Forum Read option. I use it all the time, once I've checked out the threads I want to read. It clears the records, and then New Posts won't show me anything from before then.
Go to Quick Links (top right hand corner)- it's the second option down after Today's Posts.

I'm not convinced its a login/out problem
It is a new problem that didn't happen until yesturday. I haven't started doing anything different since the last 3(?) weeks this new forum has been up!

Good point, Zafirah. I wasn't logging out earlier and was still only getting the *new* posts when I came on. This is something that started very recently.

Yesss - it works - thank you auntie Bea. I was getting seriously bored going through trying to work out what I'd read and what I hadn't

same issue here even after clearing things. It doesn't affect the usability of the site for me because I will just mark things read, but it may be more of an issue for other folks

Me too. I have been logging out every time since this showed up, but it doesn't help. So I will try the mark unread thing, but I did that once and some of the old stuff is still showing up, I think.

How to fix the "new posts" problem
From Antimony -- The only way to reset your new posts is to hit "mark forums read" in the quick links menu when you're done reading. Then the next time you come back, it will correctly show you posts since then.
Thanks Antimony!

The "mark forums read" works like a dream. I've been using that method since it was suggested and have had not probs.

As usual I've been on Bhuz several times today, and I have logged in and out twice. But apparently I haven't visited since 26/5/07. What's amiss?

The date doesn't update. Neither logging out nor marking posts as read updates it.

Thanks for telling me, I'll just stay logged in all the time then, it's easier if you visit several times a day.
