Re: anyone done?Sultry Slow Moves With Sadie
There is a combination section after each technique section, so I can't say how long the combo practice is exactly, but there is a lot of practice mixed in with the technique part too. Overall, I'd say this is one is denser in content than the average IAMED video, and you stay pretty active throughout. I've found some bellydance DVDs to be a little too "talky" without enough actual dancing. So here's the initial recap I wrote for the bellydance videos Yahoo group after viewing it quickly through once:
1.Chiftetelli - more of a lecture/demo section, Amir Sofi demonstrates and Sadie explains the chiftetelli rhythm
Technique 1 – This section contains the break-down and practice of many basic moves usually done to slow, languid music - figure 8s, undulations, hip circles, ommis, etc. If you've been dancing a while, this section will be review for you, but it's still good practice.
Combo 1 - Slow combo using the movements in Technique 1 – It's decently long with about 8-10 counts of 8
Technique 2 – This section focuses on varying movement speed, doing movements slowly, then quickly, then slowly again. It includes a few mini-combos and a few new moves such as horizontal chest figure 8s, chest lifts/drops, stomach pops, and
level changes
Combo #2 – another long combo, incorporates moves & timing from Technique 2
Technique 3 - Focuses on stage presence – changing angles, poses, & gaze. Includes level changes in details (ways to get to the floor) and travelling steps like the Arabesque
Combo 3 - Long combo incorporating technique from section 3 – This combo really catches the "Sadie style".
After the main combo teaching and practice section, Sadie runs through the combo a couple more times demonstrating the use of eyes/gaze for emotional effect and then the same combo done with a veil
Technique 4 - Focuses on working outside the rhythm/adding accents. This section adds in some sharp moves, also typical Sadie style. There are a few more steps/combos including a maya with a shimmy combo
Combo 4 - incorporates sharp accents from Technique 4 section
Technique 5 - Teaches moves suited to a fast chiftetelli – more travelling steps and more layering
Combo 5 - You guessed it - a combo to fast chiftetelli with moves from Technique 5
Performance - a beautiful Sadie performance. I think it's done to a fast chiftetelli.
Overall, I'd say this DVD is denser on content than the average IAMED video. Also, as on the Sadie drum solo video, she's very good about teaching her style and some of her signature moves. I do find the IAMED videos, in general, to not be as well organized and chaptered out as some other producers, so you really have to watch the whole thing through a few times to catch everything and decide what you want to go back to.
