Anyone deal with Scarlet's Lounge?

Found here http://www.scarletslounge.com/
or through ebay link
I am drooling over this Jeweled Peacock collection...it is just my style. But I always worry about custom costume orders. Anyone deal with this store?

Hi! Yes, I bought TONS of stuff from her -- over a year ago, but I can say the quality is really good, everything I got was beautiful -- I bought several colors in what was very close to this collection--for a troup number--I think it might even be the same. I love everything I have gotten from her. (I also bought several tribal sets--an earlier style than she has now, and some gypsy pieces) She communicated with me really well--one item was either "lost" by the Post Office (Or I suspect stolen). I neglected to insure it, so it was really my responsibility--unbelievably, she was generous enough to replace it at her expense. (it was a full set) I know I bought a lot from her, but still I don't know any other vendor who would do that. I would absolutely trust her. Go for it!!

thanks so much. It is good to know someone is happy with their purchases. Ebay comments just don't leave enough room for the full story.

Now I just need to start collecting the cash to pay for it.

I haven't bought a lot from her, but what I have has been fabulous, and the whole experience was easy.

Another satisfied customer....would order again. You won't regret the purchase; in fact, others will drool over your treasures.

I did (via eBay) and it was a nightmare! I waited MONTHS, when it finally arrived it was the wrong size (was supposed to be a custom order) and colors and the fabric was the cheapest-feeling flimsiest crap imaginable.

I still had the eBay notice! The auction was listed as "GORGEOUS India Gold Zardozi tie dye belly dance costume"

I bought mine off the rack from ebay, too. It was actually the temptation that finally convinced me to buy something from ebay.

I noticed mine wasn't exactly as pictured, the sleeves were different, but I didn't even notice right away. I was happy with the quality. It really was a pretty set. My style has changed, but I would order from them again.

Sorry about your bad experience, Kimahri - I'd be p*ssed off, too!

Scarlet's Lounge has absoultely BEAUTIFUL costumes and the quality is outstanding.
As far as the 1 negative comment posted by Kimahri, that style costume is from 4 years ago and was manufactured by Craftindia.net.
Scarlet's Lounge used to sell some pre-made costumes from India and Pakistan(which were not as nice of quality as what they sell now), but has sinced designed an entirely new line which is not mass produced and only available through their website. www.scarletslounge.com.
Gorgeous costumes which are definately worth the wait!!! all of their new costumes have their exclusive label and are some of the best quality costumes I have ever owned.

There are some beautiful things here, I love the reversible silk skirts.

But you might want to go straight to the e-bay store: http://stores.ebay.com/Scarlets-Lounge

The site appears to be a big, elaborate, front for the e-bay store -- with a slow-loading splash page with no 'skip intro' button, and music you can't turn off -- including some breathy, sexy whispery vocal sounds on the 'catalog' page that your boss won't appreciate coming out of your cubicle.

Any choice you make on the 'catalog' page appears to take you straight to the e-bay store anyway, so it's all a waste of time.

Yeah, the website is still under construction. I have been told that the website will be updated upon the arrival of the new costume collection in 2008. I emailed her directly and she told me a friend did the site for her and that it will be redone professionally so that it loads quickly, etc. Also, she will have an online shopping cart for convenience. Love the new logo though. For now it does just direct you to the ebay store where she lists all of the costumes for sale.

I see. Wow, someone's obviously done a lot of work on it -- my first thought was 'this must've been a lot of fun for the designer, but it's not much good for the business.'

Honestly, she'd be better of taking all that down and just having a white page with text that says "site under construction, click here to visit our e-bay store." At least it wouldn't alienate people!

Still, the merchandise is beautiful!

Thank you for your suggestion, I will pass it on to her and let her know.
I think she was expecting it to be completed months ago!!!

I bought a set (it might be the jeweled peacock set!) in August. The service was wonderful, and the emails prompt and helpful. The quality of the set is wonderful; it's pricey, but not overly.

2 complaints:

I said that I needed it for Labor Day weekend and would like it before in case I needed to adjust. It arrived the Tuesday after! But, I knew how close we were cutting it.

I included very careful measures, including the notation that I'm a former bodybuilder and so have much wider lats than most women; please take this into account and make the armholes MUCH deeper. The top and vest are too tight for comfort. but not by much and a seamstress pal is fixing them for me. (The skirt and belt are perfect!)

I would definately deal with them again! And, soon, I hope. I feel a piraty/gypsiesh veil poi dance coming up.....

Hmm, I wonder what happened ...... she had four different color themes for the Zardozi tie dye sets -- I got all four for a troupe number and both the girls and the audience loved them. They were really beautiful -- maybe yours were produced after she ran out of existing stock? I definitely bought what she had in stock, not custom ordered, so.......I recently bought a white assuit set -- panel skirt, gypsy top, belt & bra, and it's very nice ...... and the full skirts are light and full, not bulky.....

my friend has their reversible skirt and shrug in red/black. i can't speak for the quality as i've never worn them, but she wears them ALL the time, and I DROOL over them every time. They are absolutely beautiful in person.

I posted earlier about my experience; this weekend a friend altered the top that was too tight. It was easy to do because it had HUGE seam selvages. So, another plus!
