"Fungus scientist meets belly dancer"

One finds the oddest things on The Internet Movie Database. I've been contributing some info to it regarding Egyptian movies, especially ones with dancers. In doing a search to determine whether one of my updates had been posted, I happened upon this:

Link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0956304/
Title: My Own Private Belly Dancer
Released: 2007

Plot synopsis:

"My Own Private Belly Dancer" is a comedy about a fungus scientist, Jeremy, who is leading a rather dull and colorless life. He is in love with his co-worker, Angie, but wouldn't dare tell her. One day, a magical belly dancer appears. Though no one else can see her, Jeremy's new invisible friend forces him to live life to the fullest.

My curiosity is piqued. I want to see this! It sounds like it would be a fine addition to my collection!

I love short films. There are a lot of funny or interesting ideas that would get tiresome for a whole hour and a half, but they stay funny and fresh because the filmmaker doesn't overstay their audience's welcome.

Haha, sounds like it could be cute.

Funny thing, we used to have a band member who was a mycologist (fungus scientist). She was involved in the team that discovered the largest living organism on the planet -- a fungus! Excellent percussionist, she moved to Cairo and dropped off my radar.

If only my lab had been that exciting.

Re: "Fungus scientist meets belly dancer"

I did a bit of creative googling today to see whether I could find My Own Private Belly Dancer on video, but it appears it has not yet been released. I suppose it must still be making the rounds at the festivals. Awwww. I'm impatient!
