Fahtiem is an excellent teacher, very strong and beautiful. Particularly good with veil and arm work. I very much enjoyed my workshop with her a few years ago.

I'm not an Ava fan in terms of dancing but have never taken a workshop with her so can't speak to that.
Fahtiem is a wonderful teacher. She's energetic, graceful and funny. She's well worth the workshop!! Her basic technique is Egyptian with an American Stylization for sure....(at least that's how the classes I've taken could be described).
Anyway, I love her - such a sweetheart.

Yes, Fahtiem is a truly amazing teacher. Her approach is not usually based on technique, but rather on stage presence, attitude, and body awareness. I left my first class with her in tears, but it was a total breakthough for me and I've been back for LOTS more. Highly recommended!
I've been IN workshops with Ava but never taked a workshop she taught...so all I know is she's got a GREAT butt.

I've enjoyed Fahtiem's dancing for years, from back in the day when we were both studying with Bobby Farrah together. I second what has been said about her teaching abilities. She's always learning new things, too -- I noticed her taking several classes at Rakkasah West this year.
I love Ava Fleming as a teacher and would jump at the chance to study with her again. Her knowledge of the body is awesome, and she is very generous in sharing. She taught a range of topics when she was in Baltimore last year, and I think everyone left the class a better dancer than when they walked in. She's funny, and totally down-to-earth. You can ask her anything. After one workshop, I bought all of her IAMED teaching DVDs so I could learn more. Our styles are completely different, but the techniques she teaches work for many styles.
Strangely, I don't find Ava as compelling as a performer. Given the choice, I would study with Ava, and watch Fahtiem perform -- she's magical on stage.

I tell people I'm Fahtiem's #1 fan!
I've taken from her several times at ANAS, and have seen her perform numerous times. What I adore about her isn't that she's a fab instructor (she is!), nor that she's a fab performer (she is!), but that she is an utter CLASS ACT - both onstage and off. Gracious and kind, never vulgar, great instructional technique, blah, blah.
The only warning is that her workshop warmup is one you won't forget - and your body won't either!

I may be there too, depends on $$$$. Andrea runs top-notch workshop weekends (Babylon Breeze) and you will be treated RIGHT! Sahra Saeda is also teaching that weekend.

Sahra Saeeda is also great - she teaches wonderful classical egyptian stylings and is very patient and thorough when giving instruction.
