I'd rather spend 600 dollars on a pretty, slightly used pharonics and donate 700 to charity myself. I just can't see the point of spending that much money on a costume no matter what - the only way I'd do it is if I was professionally dancing somewhere and had to have the "latest" of things. To collect for fun? no way, my retirement fund or animal groups need the money more. 
I enjoy looking at pretty things though - I can admire the construction of a Chanel suit without having to own one. |

I know what you mean, I have a Chanel suit which I expect to pay for a 1/4 of my retirement. The good thing about a Chanel is it will never go out of style. This suit I have is from the early '90's and it still looks 'en vouge' today... can't wear it, but it is still worth a lot. I don't think a Sahar or Bella will hold up to that value in another decade or two - but you never know.

My husband and I have an understanding: The bills are paid and we both get a generous allowance to do with as we please. I tend to spend mine on bellydance (lessons, costumes, workshops, etc!) My husband laughs at me because I am always broke (but happy)!

I saw a Sahar last night on somebody who decidedly endowed. She described wearing it as "dancing as if you had no clothes on"
which she meant in a good way 
so now another group of costumes to drool over

At the Saharabesque show Friday night -- DC's Sahara Dance's annual fusion show, featuring Rachel Brice -- Sahara director Rachel Kay Brookmire was wearing a gorgeous sapphire/royal blue Sahar with a rhinestone star on one hip that looked stunning on her. The dancer next to me said, "That's such a simple design -- it would be easy to make!" I had to tell her that it was deceptively simple....

I just wore Leila's mini ( now it's called Lili's Mini) and I wore my channel sunglasses for my peformance!!!!!!!!! IT was so freaking funny! I will post pics soon!

Ooooh, Lili! That costume looks fantastic on you. So much for what everyone was saying about those bras looking like "stripper bras". I felt the same way too but seeing it on makes me think it's actually more modest than regular bras.
