Temptation and yes I bought the DVD.
What did I think?
1.Well definately not the best belly dance DVD ever but then which is?
2.Very well filmed, loved the big screen backdrop.
3.All the dancers were so beautiful, gorgeous figures, fit,wonderfully costumed and good dancers but er sorry to say few of the performances floated my boat. They looked so "strained" and energetic. Too many enormous smiles.I was exhausted and moved on quickly.Yes I know I watch too many Egyptian dancers!
4. The exception to that: I loved Viktorya and found the interplay with the violinist/singer mesmerising.Oh boy is he good as is she. Maybe it also had something to do with the numbers she was dancing to but you are something else, my dear!
5. My two bete noirs were present:
The "sultan" clicking his fingers to summon his slaves...eeeeaaargh............. My kinda belly dancers would tell him to f*** off. I bet Fifi never paid notice to a clicking finger except to bite it off!!!I think that pi$$ed me off to start with.
..and secondly Pharoanic..chronic scenes. I hate hate hate posed Ancient Egyptian nightmares.
Most costumes were lovely but one set with the troupe looked like Mezdeke..yakkkkk.
All in all though very good value for a long performance, nicely filmed and with an audience, some achievement to get that atmosphere as well as good quality. Although I think there was a zagereeting competition going on!
Please note this is one person's view and I am sure others (including some of my own mates and students ) will bawl me down. I am stuck in a groove..I know it and little will tempt me out of it!
