The thread title makes me think:
52 Yards of Glitterdot Can't Be Wrong
(kinda like that old Elvis album)

Mish Mish, I knew you would post on this forum eventually, for we all know how much you love glitter dot.
You could actually make a Glitterdot! a giant sized glitterdot monster out of 52 yards! Imagine the fun -

There's a local troupe that should be beating a path to the website any moment now... Oops, did I say that out loud?

30 yards is not enough to make a giant glitterdot monster, mish mish, ya' blew your big chance!
However, I think it would be more fearsome in fuschia....

Hey now, if you're referring to us and our purple/fuschia/assuit and glitterdot post-apocalyptic shiny urban fusion look (and I kinda think you aren't based on the existence of a troupe more "local" to you than we are who bathes in the stuff).. let me just express that the glitterdot is only to accent the rest of the outfit and at no point is there a piece more than 9 inches square.
That said, we're hoping to add 2 members to our tribe, so I may as well order up a couple more yards so they too can look like Prince caught in a Blender. :tounge:

I emailed the info about this purple glitterdot to my seamstress, who is still recovering from what she calls the "red glitterdot nightmare" -- the dresses she made us for Rakkasah East. She swears she broke out in a cold sweat just reading the subject of the email messages.
BTW, she underlined each piece of the glitterdot with cotton lining for stability before sewing, and it worked very well. The dresses seem much more substantial than our earlier batch, made by a different seamstress with a separate lining.
Pix are here, if anyone's interested. Scroll down to "Latifa and Banat al-Beled."

Got it in one, my dear.
I actually am fine with it used in moderation, like you described. Another dancer I know covered a bra with gold/multi glitterdot, but then wore a vest with it so just part of the bra peeked out. It looked awesome on stage, and even up close, I didn't even realize it *was* glitterdot until I was standing right in front of her, talking distance.

I hate sewing with glitter dot, just because it gums up the needle, breaks the needle, and makes me curse.
But I still think it looks pretty on stage, especially from a distance. I've seen some very pretty costumes that have incorporated it.

Agreed, it is one of those things that looks cheesy up close but quite impressive far away, particularly under stage lights.
But imagine, if you will, thirty dancers on stage in hot pink glitter dot with purple headdresses and jingling coin scarves... too much of anything is too much!

I second that notion... but the new owners MAY uphold their variety of goods and quality of service... we can hope so anyway!
