The Way of the Belly

I have the book "The Way of the Belly" by Neena and Veena. I've only read/skimmed the first section on eating habits, so I can't give a full review, but I do think I would have really liked this book as a teenager. (I appreciate it now, too, but the information would have been new for me then, if that makes sense.) It comes with a DVD, which I haven't watched, yet. From what I can tell, the book is about nutrition, exercise, personal grooming, and overall health and beauty tips.

Anyway, I'm mentioning it because the publisher, Hay House, is offering it, along with 50 other items, for $5.00 this week. (Just over $10 on Amazon.)

I think it's a nice gift for young women who are interested in the dance.

(I'm not affiliated with Hay House.)

Here's a direct link for the book: Hay House, Inc. | Product Details | The Way of the Belly

my teacher loves that book and is showing it to all her classes now. i was thinking of buying it as a present for all my friends who have expressed interest in the dance.

Re: The Way of the Belly

What's on the bonus DVD? Is it anything different to the Basic Dance DVD? I was considering buying it, but I want to find out more information first because it's expensive to get it here.

So it's for young women... how young?

Re: The Way of the Belly

I don't think that it is just for young women. I think women of all ages can benefit from SOME of the information in the book-there are makeup tips, recipes for some of their favorite Middle Eastern dishes, and natural beauty recipes, etc. in the book as well.

Hmmm....the dvd is different from their regular Basic Dance and Basic Moves dvds. This one has a few moves not in the others, such as the hagala or 3/4 shimmy walk. It also teaches a choreography, and shows it with and without a veil.

Re: The Way of the Belly

yeah i think it would be good for a lot of women. a very love yourself and treat yourself like a queen kind of message. i really liked it. and the dvd was basic and cute. i think it's a good idea because they had to show the moves being done instead of just in written form.

Re: The Way of the Belly

Thanks! It sounds good. I wanted it but wasn't sure whether it was too... "teenager-y". I can't find it in a bookstore or even a library here... I think I'd have to get it off ebay, and it's $26.95 plus postage. No $5 specials!

Re: The Way of the Belly

Hay House has Australia in the drop-down for countries when filling out shipping info. I don't know how much shipping is, but the book itself is about $12.00 USD through them.
