I saw this book today at Amazon UK. The price is listed as £49.95 ($98.19)new and as much as £89.04 ($175.17) used!

Wondering why a paperback could possibly be so expensive I checked on the web and Amazon.com sells it for $40 (£20.35)

I could understand that maybe someone at Amazon slipped up, but apparently 3 Marketplace sellers in the US have doubled the price!! So it's not even a simple typing error is it?

I think I'll have to point it out to them because I don't think anyone will buy it at that price.

Well, it seems I didn't read that properly, the £49.95 price is also from a marketplace seller and I've been told by Amazon that if I feel that the price is too high I should contact them, so I think I'll just drop it. I would have thought that Amazon would be interested enough to point out to the sellers what a huge mistake they are making. I wonder where they got their prices from? I mean, Target also sells it for $40.

To answer part of your question: Listing fees are 0 on Amazon, so some sellers list for random, nonsensical prices, apparently waiting for somebody to not pay attention to the price. It is in Amazon's interest that sellers sell for high prices, too, because that increases their cut.

I certainly wouldn't buy at such a high price and I love my BD books. It does seem very strange that one Amazon is so different from another.

If you really want to get the book, you could contact the author directly on her website. She lists for book (signed) for $40 + $5 shipping anywhere and takes paypal.

I just checked half.com, there the price ranges from $40 - $204.97!!!!
