Trouble editing my account

I'm pleasantly surprised the switch over happened so fast, and I've been poking around a bit - nice job! I tried logging in and that's when I had some trouble.

I logged in and it accepted my old UN/PW, and I can see the options at the top of the page to log out (right side) or how many messages I have (left side). (I tried logging in with an incorrect PW to see what happened, so I have my info correct).

I looked at the member list, found my name, clicked on the profile and it said "online".

Then I went to the forums and I can see myself as active (last log in 1-12-2007), and I'm assuming this will post as me.

But when I go to "My Account" to edit my profile, it pops me back to the log in/sign up page (even though I can still see how many message I have/log out option at the top of the page).

Any suggestions? Or should I just set up a new account?

Thanks so much!
-Amy

Same here!

I know some people have been able to edit their accounts, since they have avatars and stuff.

At the moment you can go to edit from this Forum. "My Bhuz" is not working for me but the Forum editing is. Go "My Settings" in up and left this page. Fom there you can chance avatars and other options.

I've had this same problem. I did the work around somebody else suggested and used the "Quick Links" link on the forum page to access my account to edit it. But it would be nice to just go to "My Bhuz" and be able to get in that way.

Please clear all your cookies and temp files and reboot your computer. If you have changed your user name there may still be a BHUZ cookie with your old name in it that is glueing things together.
However, I am certain that all of these log in problems are due to one of these things:
1) old user names and passwords that have things in them beside letters and numbers. This site prefers only letters and numbers. So, change to a new, simple UN & PW. Send me a PM (click on my avatar) and I can add your old # of forum posts to your new name
2) your cookie file includes an old cookie which is gumming up the works. So clear all your temp files and cookies. This is something you should do on a monthly basis, anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to try using a different computer to edit from outside the forums and see how it works.

so far the only thing i can't fix is account setting. when i try to put my state, country & save it, it kicks back the email is in use like i'm trying to register. yes tattood1 is ancient & i think that is the problem. no big i'd rather keep tattood1 i don't want to start another account i just thought you'd want to know. other than that i have used everything i want to use. tina

I was having strange and wonderful problems despite clearing cookies, restarting browser, etc...

UNTIL...

I cleared my cache also.

What that's got to do with anything I dunno, but I won't argue with results. On two different computers!

I'm having the 'that email address is already in use' issue to when I try to choose where I'm from-- I'll try clearing the cache, otherwise I am from Afghanistan from now on!

If you get a message saying "email address already in use" it means you have at some point in the past created another account that uses the same email address. The new system won't allow you to do that. What you need to do is send me a message with the names of both accounts and tell me which one you want deleted. After I delete one, the other one will allow you to make changes.
