PM-ing a Group
I was just trying to think of ways of making the groups more effective, and I wondered if it was possible to PM or email the whole group membership. I thought that would be a good way to keep group members informed of what was being discussed, and remind them to check out the group forum every once in a while. So I was delighted when I saw that you could compose an email and select the Group to send it to.
So I tried it, the group number came up in the "To" box, and I wrote a message and tried to send.
However, it came up with the error message "There is no user with this name."
Is this a feature that just hasn't been switched on yet? Or is is a glitch that no-one's come across yet? Or am I doing something wrong?

Re: PM-ing a Group
This would be great! I always forget to look for new group posts.

Re: PM-ing a Group
I have been told that this is now fixed, and a new feature added -- a new 'Choose Friends' option in the drop down box which lets users select multiple friends to message at once.
Please send out some PMs to groups and friends and let me know if its working

Hi Rosey, I just sent a test PM to a group, and it looks as though it's worked. A couple of people have full Inboxes and can't receive theirs, but that's their problem, not bhuz's!
Thanks as always for responding with lightning speed!

Re: PM-ing a Group
One of the reasons I rarely go into the teachers' group is because I can never remember how to get there. When I try to go direct from my profile page using the teachers link, it just takes me through to my welcome page.
I know there's a wriggle you have to use to get there but because I don't go regularly I can never remember it.
I've been trying to get to the group for the last five minutes and now I'm giving up

There's a link to groups in the navbar up at the top of this page (second line down, first in the list). Once you get into the groups there's a link for "My Groups". That should bring up a list of all your groups.

Re: PM-ing a Group
Bea, got the message you sent to the group. So I guess it is working.
FYI to future posters, the groups PMs show up like any other individual PM. Might want to make it clear you are sending a message to a group (which Bea did, btw) to stave off possible confusion.
Gah, I hope s-p-a-m-m-e-r-s don't start using this to get their "info" to all of us!

Re: PM-ing a Group
I received the group-PM too.
In case that someone with evil intentions tries this (like sending us a lot of PM's about Nike shoes....), is it possible to block a person or should we mention this on the forum?

You can easily block a person from contacting you again after you get a message from them. Just click on their name - that will take you to their profile page - and then click on Block on their contact panel.
