Music on Bhuz

Well unless I was missing something (and generally I am!), this is new to me (as in it wasn't on the old Bhuz). And I love it - I'm listening to the Port Said track right now.

Will the uploaded tracks be categorised like the videos are?

Yes, soon (not sure exactly when) you will be able to add more detail when you upload music files. I love the Cha Cha of the Pharoahs!

Just having a listen to the cha-cha now - it's great!

I tried to upload some tracks but only had success with Saharoney Elil - some server problem, perhaps the files were too big or something. But I'm just uploading Tarkan's "Hup" video to myspace so that I can link it to back to Bhuz. Oooh those hips!

Is there any issue with copyright on the music/video being uploaded to the website? I am just curious and want this site to stay successful :) I know at least some of what has been uploaded is public domain, but I wasn't sure about the rest.

Oh flippin eck good point. I should've thought about that one seeing as I have to think about copyright every day! Oops.

Well it's nearly up on myspace now so I'll link it through and if Rosey thinks she should ditch it then that's fine by me. It does have some dot com logo in the opening frames, but I have no idea if it's public domain or not.

Are we able to download the songs from here, or are they just available for public listening once they're uploaded? Does that make a difference in copyright land?

That's why it is not possible to download music from the site. Uploading to the site is unlikely to cause a legal issue.

Downloading from this site would cross a legal line, and that is why there is no function to do it.

Where am I going wrong?? I am trying to upload some music and although it seems to upload it's not appearing on the list of songs.

There is a limit on I think 5 minutes or 5 or 8 MB. The details are in the help link on the Welcome page. If its bigger it won't take it.

Ooh, I didn't see that. Guess I was lucky that the songs I u/l'd were small enough, or I'd have been scratching my head, too.

Hmm - well the first song wouldn't have worked then as that was too long, but the second one was only 4 minutes. I'll go and have another try after checking the size of the file.

Okay, so I wondered it it was anything to do with how I described the songs and I found that if I entered the details like this

Song Name - Al Amoura
Artist - Feret El Negoum

(The first time I put Feret El Negoum - Outi's CD)

The song uploaded fine and appears on my list of files that I can edit, but it doesn't appear on the list of songs on the music page. Unless there is a delay because they need to be approved first???

Without going into details - yep, you can save the mp3s locally, on your own machine. I just tried successfully (I didn't do anything even remotely unethical).

ooo this is a great way to promote new music specifically for bdancers. I hate the 30 second clips...when you dance to songs 7 minutes plus, the intro doesnt usually give you a clue as to how the song will proceed.

so, how do we get music to the music page so that everbody can listen to the file you uploaded?
