I have Adblock Plus installed at home, so I just turned off the banner entirely.

Mmmm - all new still so I'm not sure about how the functionality will work. But I definitely liked the old ability to go to a forum and see what has changed since my last visit - not the whole site - just one or two areas. Once tehre the new stuff was at the top. Easy to find and read. If a thread I was not interested in was fl;agged and I ignored it next time it got buried.
Another issue is speed. Currently I'm using work's fantastic broadband and the response is very slow - due I suspect to the fancy artwork. If this is the norm I probably won't be able to use it at homne on my dial up.

I haven't noticed a reduction in speed - and really, images can be made really small so usually a site's artwork doesn't hamper the loading time of pages. Sometimes imbedded images will, and there may be a feature to turn these off - if you are on dial-up at home, you may be able to choose to have the forum set to show no images.

Like other vBulletin forums I've been to, there is an option in your account settings to turn off visible elements, like avatars and image tags. That may boost your d/l time if you find there's an issue with dial-up or you just don't like the visible elements.

98% - now I do feel grumpy. I have a 17 inch flat screen - hardly that old a technology and the site does not fit. We support over 40 companies - mostly legal and accountancy - and hardly anyone has more than a 17inch - many are still running much smaller. Welcome to the real world.
Changing the resolution is not an option because I need 1024x768 to see the screen. Do you really think the world is all running 19inch plus or have such amazing eye sight as to be able to see tiny print?

My work computer also seems to be muuuuuch slower on the new page, and Japan has powerfull broadband connecttions.
Sometimes it seems like it's having problems with the top banner.

Beafarhana has a similar problem, I will put it on the list. My guess is that it is a Firefox plug in that is interfering with it somehow. Are you on Firefox?

I'm a bit puzzled by the complaints about the new features - the friends network, blog, etc. If you're not interested in a feature, why not just ignore it? Just because it exists doesn't mean you have to use it!
And why be stressed over having your profile show that you have no "friends" on here? I don't either, and it doesn't bother me. After all, this system is new to all of us and it takes time to build up a network. But if it does bother you, you have the power to change it - just start sending out friend requests to bhuzzards whose messages you have enjoyed in the past. Soon you'll have a bunch of bhuzfriends!

Maybe it's the flash header that is slowing things down. Here are instructions for removing flash from IE:

But, you said in another post you can't modify your work computer.
Aargh! Can you check to see if you have Macromedia Flash Player? If you don't then it's something else that's creating the problem

Apologizing again here for posting without thinking upthread. I am an idiot, what can I say? Seriously, I should have voiced my concerns in a positive way or not at all. I am in serious need of a foot-in-mouth smiley.
Look, I'll practice my new, improved attitude:
woohoo! I tried a smiley!

Am enjoying poking my head around the new Bhuz, even with the Bhugs. I like the stab at MySpace if only because I feel like MySpace wasn't for me, and I'd be willing to give the format a shot with my Bhuz friends rather than a bunch of teenagers and self-promoting musicians, ha ha. I'm not sure how I feel about the myriad groups, I guess I still enjoyed checking in on conversations that I might not have been terribly attached to, and now I may never know about certain fun things because I didn't know there was a group for it! I guess it'll take a few months to see how that affects the conversations around here.
But yeah, the old system was staggering under its own weight and a change was called for. Thanks Rosey for the work, and thanks for being open to our feedback.
PS: I apparently have only one friend, but I know that's not true!

Well, I love the new board. VBulletin is pretty much the forum-of-choice for a reason--it is the most stable, the most robust, and the most user-friendly. The old Bhuz was great, but this one will be even better. Once everyone gets used to the changes, I think you will agree.
For me, having a working Search function again rocks my world. Thanks!
