posting classes on the events page?

When posting a local class on the 'Classic' Bhuz Events Forum,
we could ask it to repeat the event 'x' number of times before the event goes away.
I could not find that option today,
becasue I chose 'local-class' will it automatically repeat?
Or will the listing go away after the first class?

A very good question!
At the moment, the calendar can't take repeating events.
We are working on a way around the problem, but it will be a little while before we have it ready.
The essential problem is that if 100 or more teachers start listing their classes the calendar will get so gummed up you won't be able to read it.

The listing (in the list on the Events home page) doesn't have to go away after the first class, because right now I manually delete old events every few days. So, if you can put the end date in the headline, then I won't delete it.
So for instance, if your class is
Essentials of Raqs Sharqi
put
Essentials of Raqs Sharqi 6/12-8/14

(takes a deep breath) However, having said all that, I see this listing

04/13/2007 06:00 pm On-Going, All-Level BellyDance Classes
on-going, all-levels, drop ins welcome Locally Based Class Arlington Heights, Illinois (USA)

I could keep listings like this in for quite a while and they will pile up at the top of the page, and that may be OK, and it gives the advantage to the teacher of staying in the search function as long as the listing is up.

So, let's play it by ear and see how it goes. I will let the ongoing class listings pile up at the top of the list until it gets too unweildy, by which time I hope we have a solution.

The Chicago area instructors really used the old events page A Lot.
(posting classes)
We frequently refer students to others instructors' classes,
and take from other teachers-

so . . .for now I'm going to remove the class listing-
and just stick to local boards for classes,
and just post events here.

You should keep the class listing in so that your bd studio will turn up on a search for arlington heights.

Here's what you should do
Put this date on it -- 12/31/2007 your listing will stay up so that you will come up in a search for Arlington Heights, Illinois (USA) until that date, but it will move you to the end of the listing pages so the listings won't get gummed up by hundreds of teachers posting classes.


12/31/2007 06:00 pm On-Going, All-Level BellyDance Classes
on-going, all-levels, drop ins welcome Locally Based Class Arlington Heights, Illinois (USA)

Then, at the beginning of every year, make a new event listing with the date of 12/31

All teachers can do this so that you will be visible in an area search. Please, if you stop teaching, take the listing down!
