Flash player?
Hi- something a little weird-- yesterday when I went to youtube I noticed you could try their new beta version of a video page. When I clicked it the page that came up did not have the video and there was a message saying I needed the latest Flash player or had Java turned off. I downloaded the flash player from the link provided and the page then worked. When I came back to Bhuz, which I already had open, there was a flash player message there! When I clicked that to 'update', the message went away, but when I went back to youtube I had the flash player message showing up again there and had to go back to the old version of youtube. Any ideas?

did you change the browser between the visits? That is one possibility for what happened.

I was on Bhuz, went to youtube on a new tab within the same window, came back to the same bhuz tab I was already on. In Firefox, which is what I pretty much always use. I guess I could have tried closing the browser and reopening it, but it still wouldn't quite make sense. Seems like it must be that one page is using a different version of Flashplayer-- presumably the new youtube page is using the most recent although I didn't see a version number. However, I did read today on youtube that if you have any problem you should uninstall your old flashplayer and reinstall the new one. Of course, like I said, the video there worked fine after I installed the new version, without my uninstalling anything--until I came back to bhuz and clicked on the flashplayer message here which reverted everything back-- hmmmmmm....

My best guess is that you have 2 different installations of Flash on your system, which is supposed to be impossible. But. :(
Try using these uninstall instructions, then rebooting, double-checking t make sure nothing but Firefox is open, and then installing Flash directly from Abobe.com.

Oh Geez-- I had to restart my computer on an unrelated thing and first my Incredimail wouldn't open because it informed me that I didn't have the right flashplayer installed. A page automatically opened that apparently installed it again without my clicking on anything or any installation boxes showing up. Came to Bhuz, all was well. Went to youtube-- had to disable my security again to get it to work. Certainly don't want to have to do that every day. I will go now and see if I have to add youtube to my list of allowed sites or something, although it's always worked fine before, don't see why the new version would be incompatible.

Hmmm. This is beginning to sound like a Norton Security issue; at least the Youtube part. And that's where I'm out of my depth, 'cause I've not worked with Norton since they started selling firewalling software, frankly. Very hard for me to diagnose based on descriptions, esp. as I'm not certain what Norton does "under the hood" in terms of protecting and monitoring what you do on your browser(s).
If worse comes to worse, and it becomes too much of a nuisance, I suggest getting recommendations for a local service* to take it to (or to come to your house). It sounds like you might have deeper issues that can be fixed by a reboot and a couple of reinstalls, sadly. :(

Thank you for taking the time to help-- at the moment everything is working but I haven't rebooted since earlier so who knows if it'll all happen again-- I suppose I'll live if I have to use the old youtube version for a while longer if it comes down to that-- just seems weird how two different sites take turns saying you need the latest player when you have it-- definitely a glitch somewhere but no big deal. Meanwhile I am definitely due for a defrag (well, really a new computer!) so that's what I'll be up to this evening ;o)
