Help?!? how do I sponsor an intructor???

I have been considering sponsoring some dancers for workshops but I don't know what steps I should take. Obviously I should ask her/him whether or not they are available teach a workshop in my city on a particular date but what else should I take into consideration. I assume that I pay for their travel expenses and how much does a well known egyptian dancer expect to make to teach a one or two-day workshop? What else am I forgetting? Any advice would be truely appreciated

Hi LeenaNYC:

When you say Egyptian dancer, do you want to bring someone over from Egypt? Or is the dancer in the US?

First you must find out how much they charge, do they charge per person? Per hour? Per workshop? Everyone works differently.
Then you have to figure out how much you must charge the attendees for the workshops in order to cover the instructors fees, studio rental, airfare, instructors hotel expense and meals.
Sometimes intructors are willing to stay at your house rather than a hotel, so that would bring your expenses down a bit. Other times, they prefer a hotel.
It also depends on whether you want to charge an organizer's fee or not.
You've got to take all these thing into consideration when setting the cost for the workshops, so that none of this comes out of YOUR pocket and you don't end up losing money.

Regards
Priscilla

don't forget to include promotion in your expenses, ie, brochures, flyers, advertising, etc...
