the star to the right of your photo on your profile. There is also a number next to it. Mine has 8 next to it. It used to have 7 - so I am also curious to why this happened.
Oh, it's showing how many times you've contributed something to the board. How many times you've posted, started a topic, posted pictures and so on. I think that is what I was told. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

It's linked to the number of points you have. Look on your personal profile. Right by your photo, there's a number. When you get enough points you get a full star. What are "points"?
