Profile, What Does This Mean?

I was asked to become friends with a fellow Bhuzzer and when I looked at the dancer's profile, this is what I found:

Sorry, this profile has been closed and can't be viewed at this time.

What does this mean? Banned permanently, site down, might be coming back? Should I just ignore the friend request?

Were they members who've made posts anywhere?

I got a couple of friend requests from people I don't really "know" recently, and they're just sitting there because I'm sort of waiting to see a post by these people or something. I know it's common with the *ahem* younger folk to just make friends with total strangers online, but it still feels weird to me.

I wonder if someone has been using Friends/PMs to spam people & gotten banned or something?

I know that Carolynn's profile said that for awhile--and we know she's strange, but she's not a stranger. It may be a glitch.

There is an option in your profile settings to make your profile visible only to friends. This member must have chosen that feature, so you get the "profile closed" message. I don't know if she really intended for this to happen.

If someone gets banned (it's happened maybe twice in the past year or so) they disappear entirely. And, yes, there are a few merchants on the site who are trying to make friends with everyone so they can send you spam ads. The best thing to do if you don't want their PMs is to go to their profile and click on Block Sender in their contact panel. That will prevent them from contacting you. Since they do support the site with advertising, I don't feel justified in coming down hard on them.

If you are getting spam ads from someone who isn't a regular advertiser, let me know and I will ban them (send me a PM)

But also see my reply to Lauren about how to stop getting PMs from someone; it's easy to do.
