What means "bump"?
I see it often on the Belly Dance Swap Pages. What does it mean?
Bump as in "I pass" or what?
Thanks!

Re: What means "bump"?
Nope, it just 'bumps' your listing to the top again - I didn't get it either, then it just dawned on me one day!

Re: What means "bump"?
Bump is also short for "Bring Up My Post".

Re: What means "bump"?
*laughs* I used to wonder what that meant too :D....until I started spending so much time on forums.
Bumping the thread meaning replying to it so it goes to the top of the page....so it's not lost under a mound of other threads that are more active.

Re: What means "bump"?
Ooooohhhhh, I get it. So I'm just being obnoxious by reposting a new thread?!
Yikes!

Re: What means "bump"?
Thanks for asking that Azhia, I wondered the same as you. I thought it was a kind of nudge to everyone because no-one was answering the thread.

In a way, it kinda IS a nudge 'coz it brings it back up to the top of the posts

I was wondering about it too! As a baby-bhuzer, Isee that there are LOTS of bhuz-isms that I haven't learned yet. I am just trying to keep up!

Okay, i was wondering about this as well only it looks like i am the only one who STILL doesn't get it. You mean by just replying to a thread and typing "bump" it puts it to the top of the list?

Re: What means "bump"?
Not exactly. By replying to a thread in any way it brings it to the top of the list. When you are looking at the list of threads in the a forum, you are looking at them in order where the one with the most recent reply is on top.
So if a sale thread has slipped down off of the first couple of pages, the original poster might reply to it to get it back on the first page. Since they have to say something in the reply, the most common thing to say is just "bump" - it's not a bhuz-specific term, it's what is used on other internet forums as well.
