ISO new taksim songs

I am ISO of some new songs to do taksim to. It seems like I can only find about 3 and they are all over 4 minutes. I'd like to find more that aren't quite as long and also some that do not get monotonous sounding after the first couple minutes. Any suggestions?

Re: ISO new taksim songs

Check out Pangia's CD's. I think all of them have great taksim's on there of varying lengths.

Re: ISO new taksim songs

Are you looking for instrumental taksims, meaning a solo by a flute, violin, oud, kanoun, etc? If so, the CD "Belly Dance Sensation" has a ton of lovely short ones, only a minute or two each.

Or are you meaning the kind of piece that's sometimes called a beledi taksim, or beledi progression, the jazz format that starts with a single instrument (often accordian) and then the drums come in bits, then the tet and tat call and response, and building to a crescendo, sometimes a drum solo at the end?

Sorry to be dense, I just wasn't sure which you meant since I've heard the word used both ways.

Re: ISO new taksim songs

Marcel Khalife has a new CD that has some drum/oud solos that are beautiful and great for dance. In fact, the CD is called "Taqseem."

There's only three songs that are really long, but each of them has a short chunk of drum/oud (usually towards the end).

Not sure if this is what you are looking for exactly, since I'm not an expert on bellydance music genres...
