An Idea for Jes...Silk Cover-Ups?
Hey Jes...Have you ever considered making silk costume cover-ups in your gorgeous style?
I am not in the market for this...but I just thought of it and it's something every belly dancer needs.

I'd wear one, especially if it were made like a cape...., in essense a giant circle with a hood, slits for sleeves and pockets! ohhhh at least 2, one for zills

Re: An Idea for Jes...Silk Cover-Ups?
Yeah, I love the look of her ruanas (spelling?) but I want a cover-up that covers it all. Gotta be nearly floor-length. And maybe a light weight silk. A caped-robe style sounds lovely!

Re: An Idea for Jes...Silk Cover-Ups?
they are not floor length but you can wrap them to cover a costume AND wear them as daily wear..here's a photo..they dont have pockets but i may consider doing that in the future (i do make little zill purses that are dyed to match..or pouches) but these do have hoodies :)
I'm sold out right now, expecting more blanks to arrive in a few weeks :)

that's exactly what I'm thinking of, you can't get them floor length?

I was seriously just thinking like a big hilo hattie muu-muu style thing, only cuter.
I should stop thinking up things to do for a woman who has a 7 month old baby.

Re: An Idea for Jes...Silk Cover-Ups?
floor length, even if it was just habotai, would likely cost a butt load and i'm not sure i want to dye something with that much fabric..it could be dyed in panels then sewn later but i'm on to projects other-than-bellydance stuff at the moment :) am playing with silk dresses and bags with painted items on them , batiking, etc. but ya never know.
am guessing the cost for the silk and the seamstress to sew it, before i dyed it, would be about 50 bucks? depending on length. then add dye costs..it would be like dyeing two veils..so i think they would be too expensive for the market to handle. my experience is that dancers prefer to spend money on costumes and an occasional silk veil that kicks ass but not so much on caftans (since we can get some pretty nice ones from india anyways)
BUT i'd love to do a really fancy handpainted charmeuse silk floor length cape but that sucker would probably be priced at over 250
