ISO Burgundy Chiffon Skirt
I am looking for a simple Burgundy Chiffon circle skirt (a couple if the material is thin). Does any one have one they would like to part with? I can't believe how hard it is to find this color. I would sew one but my measurement skills are lacking!

Re: ISO Burgundy Chiffon Skirt
I know you said Burgundy but I may have something that will work for you.
I sell a wine colored for $35 on my site (standard circle skirt with veil): Ravena Designs - Skirts & Veils
I also have a rust colored skirt (double skirt - sample - no veil) for $30: Deluxe Chiffon Circle Skirt
If you need more detail on color - I can take pics of the actual chiffon. Let me know :-)

Re: ISO Burgundy Chiffon Skirt
To me, burgundy is on the bluer side, but the line is pretty fuzzy and the labels seem to vary a lot. I have a new one to sell that's more on the maroon side, if Linny or anyone else is interested:
http://www.bhuz.com/index.php?cmd=/p...172/name_Zana/
It's double-layer with a curly sequined hem on the outer layer. The full-length photo shows the color best; the smaller, darker one shows the hem detail.

Re: ISO Burgundy Chiffon Skirt
Well, the problem is that I already owned a skirt that was maroon. I went and bought some material to make sleeves to go with the outfit and I didn't bring the skirt with me. I ended up buying burgundy material and didn't realize that they didn't match until I had already made the sleeves. The funny part is......I might actually have it turned around. I might have bought maroon when I needed burgundy. The skirt is more of a red base and the sleeves are darker and I think a purple to them. Burgundy is more purple than maroon right?
Do you all think it is a big deal to have the skirt and sleeves a little off?

Re: ISO Burgundy Chiffon Skirt
*ding ding* Artist chiming in!
"Maroon" is derived from French marron ("chestnut"), it became a color-word in English ca. 1791.
"Burgundy" is a region in France ironically best known for their white wines (i.e. Pouilly-Fuissé) however the color-word refers to the red wine. The first recorded use of burgundy as a color name in English was in 1915.
So I would say they are both deep reds, maroon has a more brownish tone, and burgundy more pink/purple.
However if you want to match/co-ordinate I would not recommend buying without comparing colours directly in real life, as they are very difficult colours to match up.

Hi, Linny! I'm just seeing this now -- sorry for the delay. I'll measure it when I'm home later today and let you know. It's brand-new and I haven't worn it, but I remember trying it on and I'm pretty sure it fit my size-16 self at least. I'll check size and price and PM you ASAP. Thanks for the interest!

Re: ISO Burgundy Chiffon Skirt
Eek, sorry to be slow! And my PM bounced!
Skirt is 36-37" inches long (hard to measure with the curly hem). Waistband with existing elastic stretches to 48" max. Price...hmm...think...
Dahlal doesn't have this one online at the moment, as far as I can tell, but lists a similarly full double chiffon skirt with curly hem and no sequins for $100. How about $80, shipping included?

Re: ISO Burgundy Chiffon Skirt
Sorry, too long and skinny. I have "generous" proportions. I may have to such it up and try to make one. Errrrggghhh.

Re: ISO Burgundy Chiffon Skirt
How generous? My, what a personal question -- PM me if you prefer. But I think you and I are similarly sized, and I may have something else in my closet.

Linny-
I was the original owner of the maroon/cinnamon Dahlal skirt that Zana is offering. I never danced in it either, just tried it on once. It is absolutely a FULL skirt. It is elastic waist, very full, and double layer chiffon. The curly beaded hem is to die for. I have a round booty and thighs, and it looked fabulous on.

Re: ISO Burgundy Chiffon Skirt
I have a simple burgundy chiffon circle skirt & veil set, double-slit, trimmed w/silver-color paillettes and either silver sequins or beads. Never worn. Got it last year at an Aziza workshop through her Babylon Breeze company.

I can take some tonight, if that's OK? I've never worn the skirt/nor used the veil; so it's still folded up. I've realized that with a very few exceptions, I prefer gold-accented cossies rather than silver :)

Re: ISO Burgundy Chiffon Skirt
That would be great. I actually for this costume would take the silver off.

Re: ISO Burgundy Chiffon Skirt
OK--having camera technical difficulties and therefore, these pix were taken with my cell phone :( I'm sorry I tried to take the best ones I could with the cell:
http://www.bhuz.com/index.php?cmd=/p...firah/id_9376/
http://www.bhuz.com/index.php?cmd=/p...firah/id_9377/
http://www.bhuz.com/index.php?cmd=/p...firah/id_9378/
As I pulled it out of the storage chest & unfolded it for pix, I realized that this is actually a 4-panel skirt, handkerchief bottom hemline, with both elasticized and double hook opening. The waist band, being elastic, is 26" unstretched, about 36-37" stretched...could maybe go to 38 1/2" if you move the hooks.
