looking for fire fans, candles and the like. not seen at any online shops.

I have also taken a workshop with the Flame Goddess, Lee FlameGoddess Lee's Profile - tribe.net and she made some of her own.

There are a lot of online vendors for fire props - you may want to do a search for fire poi or fire fans and it should pull most of them up. Just off the top of my head:

Yep - the fire crews usually do more with held items than balanced ones.

These are pretty, but they also have a strap instead of being balance items: Lotus Palm Torches

Candle holders might be better to find balancing items, but fire fans and such will mainly be at fire supply places
