Veil fans a la Bozenka
Hi y'all!
At Raqs America Bozenka performed with half-veils attached to fans. Beautiful! Anyone no where to get these things?

Re: Veil fans a la Bozenka
You can purchase them from Originales by Faye at Welcome to Faye4U.com (faye@faye4u.com) to get the same style - I know Faye had supplied Bozenka, so those are probably the ones!
There are some other places that also sell them. A search for "fan veils" should bring up a few. Good luck!

Re: Veil fans a la Bozenka
It really was. First time I had ever seen these fans in action. :-)

Re: Veil fans a la Bozenka
universal_curio on ebay. that's where i buy my silk fans from. i first contacted him telling him i'd seen a "fire" veil (pic below) on faye's site and could he make me a custom PAIR just like those fire fans. Faye's fans sell for $40 each or $75 a pair + shipping. He emailed me back and said that the "fire" fan was in fact his fan and that he would sell me a pair for $33.00 shipping included - well below her price. i couldn't believe my luck. 2 fans for less the price of 1 of Faye's and the same fan to boot - same in the sense of color, style, etc. it pays to shop around! also he'll make fans in any color you want for that price, even if you don't see the colors you want on his site. i've already got the fans and they're beautiful! quality light silk.

I've talked to Faye about that before - she said that is not the same supplier that she uses, so they aren't actually the same fans. I own some from each now and I can vouch that they are actually different in the staves and the weight of silk. (Not necessarily better or worse, just different - so it would depend on what you wanted :) )

really, thanks for clearing that up. i must've misunderstood what he was saying about the fan being his he must've meant a different supplier, same looking kinda fan the fan's really beautiful when it flows thru the air, looks like fire.

Absolutely - they are all gorgeous. I haven't seen an unattractive one yet :) I think there are quite a few different suppliers over there making them now, so he probably just meant the same style and options :)
Have you seen the big ones yet? I am working with the 10' ones most of the time now and am *loving* them, but they have taken a lot longer to get accustomed to. I had them custom-made through Faye a while back...they are really cool. You can see with with one in my pics here: Flickr: mahjan's Photostream If you ever get a chance to play with the big ones, give it a shot - I am loving them as much as the regular ones!

At the MBC, Mae the Belly Dancer was using these huge, totally badass black veil fans. They were so dramatic, and she really knew how to work them!

Ooooh! Excellent :) I would love to see video if there is any available. It took me months to get to the point where I can use two of the 10' fans without looking labored about it. I plan on having a section in the next dvd about them, but don't know how widely they are available yet. I love seeing how everyone interprets the fans differently.
