Re: ISO Lame Circle Skirts

is that tissue lame or liquid lame? It doesn't seem stiff, but rather soft.

Re: ISO Lame Circle Skirts

It was soft...former owner here.. but heavy! Tissue lame is nasty stuff...no flow and crunchy. This stuff was made in the 70's and had a great "hand". You can tell by the way it flows over the table top like water. Or budtah

Wow, so pretty! Nice lame' is hard to find...nowdays you get that 'crunchy' stuff mentioned above or the heavy black-backed stuff that can be a nightmare to sell. I'll keep my eye out at the local fabric stores for the nice stuff and if I find some fabric I'll see if they'll let you order over the phone. Ravena, if you pm me your telephone number I'll keep it with me when I go fabric shopping. The finished skirts could be harder to find. Oh yeah, what colors? How many yards? They're really easy to make....should take a couple of hours for each one.

Re: ISO LIQUID Lame Circle Skirts

Hello Everyone!

Thanks for the information. I am gonna attempt making my own :-). I have made my own chiffon skirts and I have a few different patterns that I can try. Gonna hit up a specialty fabric store in the area that sells a lot of "unique" fabrics.

Though I would prefer to find a vendor to provide this - I will give it a shot.

Yo Ravena....make sure you hang your skirt for a few days after you've put a waist band on it BUT BEFORE you hem it. If you don't the hem will be uneven after wearing the skirt a couple of times. It also helps to cut the skirt longer than you think. Good luck!

Re: ISO LIQUID Lame Circle Skirts

Liquid lame can be found in most fabric stores, but usually not in that many colors. But normally I see about 3-4 at the Yardage Town closest to my house. I made veils out of them sometimes, they flow really nicely.
If you're making a circle skirt, you probably don't need 1 1/2 circle, you can just cut 2 half circles, that will be full, and because it's not see through you don't need more.
And because it is cut on the hem, I agree with letting it hang for a couple of weeks at least. Don't touch it, or play with with before you hem because it will fraye like crazy.

Re: ISO LIQUID Lame Circle Skirts

Thanks for the advice.

When I make my chiffon skirts I do the "hang it up and bat it around 2x a day for a few weeks" technique. IT has worked so far. Good to know that this fabric kinda works the same way. Thanks!
