Ciao tutte!
Adoro la lingua italiana! L'ho studiata a Firenze tanti anni fa e mi farebbe molto piacere di praticarla qui con voi.
A presto,

Khalida

Re: what, no italian?
hey khalida
you loved (obviously i meant lived) in firenze? or just a laguange course? i lived in Firenze for a year, and am still home sick for it. i'd go back right away, but it's not really possible with my/our life right now. but i miss it so much still

Re: what, no italian?
Ciao Artemisia!
Yes, I have both lived and loved in Firenze I hopped a plane and moved to Firenze for a year da sola when I was 22 and have been a confirmed Italophile ever since. Like a swan, I make a migratory return for a month every September and nest in the same appartamento on the river Arno.
Perhaps we can meet up in Firenze one day :)
Dimmi, did you choose the name Artemisia out of inspiration for the great Gentileschi? Or is it your birth name? Or? In any case, it is a beautiful name :)
Ciao,

Kellye

Re: what, no italian?
artemisia, yes, from the paintress, i fell in love with her paintings one day, and suddenly my year long search for a dance name was over. i went on a holiday once btw looking for all her paintings all over. theres some in rome and firenze in very unknown musea. the one i most want to see is in a castle in england though, owned by the bloody queen and no acces for tourists!!! (the self portrait)
i'm so jealous you go back every year. when i left i vowed to go back for ONE weekend every year. i only kept that up for two years, and than somehow life and things got in the way... also, i had so many friends there who are now all gone (all other expats), somehow i fear i might be dissapointed...
how come you manage staying in the same place every year? i had a fabulous appartment near plaza leopoldo (behind the fortezza, a bit outside of the centre)

Re: what, no italian?
Davvero, la storia di Artemisia è molto commovente. Ho visto delle sue opere nelle gallerie Uffizi, Palatina, e nella Casa Buonarotti. Ecco un buon sito web su diversi artisti italiani e delle informazioni su Artemisia:
In Italy Online - Artemisia Gentileschi
Allora, si, ogni anno vado a Firenze per trascorrere il mese di settembre e prenoto lo stesso appartamento nel quartiere di Santa Croce, dove habitavo tanti anni fa. È come tornare a casa anno dopo anno. . . . :)
Tanti auguri, Artemisia!

Khalida

Re: what, no italian?
yes, i've seen all those in firenze.
there is also a tiny museum in rome, with several paintings of orazio and artemisia, and there are a few in the bigger galleries there, but my art books are all still in boxes,
and there are so many different versions of her live story, i kind of started collecting them, i think i have like 4-5 biografies of her, and a few art books
(sorry, i really cant write in italian, i studies at the european university in fiesole, and allll my social life was in english really, and just never took the time to really work on my italian, a pitty, i know)
