I've been blogged in Spanish
Bellydance Spirit: Nasila
The first half is my bio, but please can someone give me the gist of the second big paragraph? Something about many lives and no handicaps?
And the comments under it are about my zills, right? They picked out my oldest videos (zills have improved, slightly). But I'm honored to be on there along with Shems and Virginia and Orit...holy water cow!

since no one else has responded (shocking), I'll work my spanish as a second language..I have some gaps. Hopefully a REAL spanish speaker will show up.
As a dancer she dominates the technique and the result is elegant and delicate, and results in being very complete(?)...already she understands how to manage the different props like the veil and the (?), and she can work with a live band...(???? didn't get the rest of that). But still, Nasila shows that it isn't important to have the figure of the day to be a dancer, it is not a handicap to a beautiful dance if you control your technique and are gracious like she is. Many people that would leave behind the materialism of our time but are not capable to show the physicality of a dancer to value of our dance (??). But if middle eastern dance has something that other artistic disiplines or sports do not, it is that it doesn't close doors on anyone due to their physical shape. It's all about character, technique, and "duende" to go out there quickly and Nasila is an example of what we're talking about.

Re: I've been blogged in Spanish
Good job, Nepenthe.
Here's another translation using colloquial English. Sometimes we speak a little stuffy in Spanish or at least we use rather grandious words instead of the more basic ones. It makes for a good review. I also cleared up some of the meanings that get lost in translation. Hope it helps.
As a dancer she masters her technique and the result is elegant and refined, and also the results are very complete, she already manages different props such as the veil and finger cymbals and knows how to work with a live band, which one can appreciate in her numerous live performances. Also, Nasila is an example that one’s physical appearance is not important when it comes time to be a good dancer, and being shorter or more plump are not impediments to develop a beautiful dance if you can control your technique and have grace. Many people who are lead by materialism in our day are not capable of ignoring the dancer’s physique when it comes time to judge or value the dance itself. But if Middle Eastern dance has something that other artistic disciplines do not have is that it does not close its doors to anyone because of their physique. What matters is the character, technique and inspiration (or muse) in order to succeed, and Nasila is an example of this as we were saying.

Re: I've been blogged in Spanish
Babelfish called me 'stuffed of figure.' That's kinda how I feel after our Florida vacation. Try eating "family friendly" fare for a whole week. Ha!

Re: I've been blogged in Spanish
Translation Rule No. 1: Never trust Babelfish! Human language requires a human translator, and I'm not just saying that 'cause I am one. It's because machines are really bad at context, and in translation context is everything. "Relleno/a" would be "stuffed" if we were talking about chiles or potatoes, but since you are demonstrably NOT a chile or a potato but a hot mama bellydancer, it means fuller, rounder, a little more plump, as Mayliz said. (Nice translation by the way, Mayliz!)
You're beautiful and womanly. They love you. There's more love in the comments -- send up a flare if you want any of that, too.

Re: I've been blogged in Spanish
"Family friendly" with this family is: BB-Q ribs, corn on the cob, cole slaw, green bean casserole, baked macaroni and cheese and peach cobbler for dessert. Than it's on to dinner.
Same routine all week long with different fab. meals. It's hard living in the south were families revolve around the dinner table.

Re: I've been blogged in Spanish
Nasila, I *wish* I was a stuffed mubbo like you.
Sheesh, there must be some heinous body type pressure on bellydancers in their country, I'm sad for them.

I was thinking the same thing Lauren! I mean...Nasila you're not even CLOSE to overweight...You have a great bellydancer figure. You're "thick" (BTW if a black person ever calls you that it's a compliment ) So yeah, no joining that fat thread!
Anyway, other than that I thought it was fabulous!

Re: I've been blogged in Spanish
I don't think calling someone "rellena" has a negative connotation. In the context of the review, I felt that they were saying that it doesn't matter if a bellydancer doesn't look like a supermodel (thin and six feet tall), you can still execute clean technique and look very graceful. So, please don't go join any weight-loss program or else you might lose your fans. You have a very lovely figure.
Just remember that certain phrases can't be translated word-for-word.

Re: I've been blogged in Spanish
Exactly. To me "rellena" is not at all unflattering -- it's kind of yummy, actually. (Spouse says: "We really like las figuras más rellenas!") It just means you have curves, you're not supermodel-thin.
For comparison: I'm about twice your size, you know, and I usually get called "gordita" which is how you might affectionately say "fat." That's not nearly as much fun!

Re: I've been blogged in Spanish
Zana, ewe's not fat, ewe's fluffy!
The vids they chose were from over a year ago, when I was 15 pounds lighter than I am now (I'm back on the Evil Sugar). It's all good though...now to get me one of those dark chocolate peanut butter cups that Jes is raving about!! Mmmmm.... ;)
