working with html files in adobe cs3

as usual i dont know what i'm talking about when it comes to computer stuff so i'm not even sure if what i'm asking makes sense..here goes

i want to change files that are saved right now as html files into pdf files. more on the why's of that later. so i open photoshop and open an html page and i get a message that type of doc cant open

is there a way to change the html extension into something that will open in photoshop? i want to use the basic layout and images on the html page and change them around with photoshop then save them as a pdf file

i hope that makes sense

alternatively i'd like to make a mini web page with a template, say on front page since that's what i have, and then turn that web page file into pdf

Jess... I'll see what I can find out. Do you have Go Live and Illustrator as well as Photoshop? And Acrobat? There HAS to be a way to convert your file, I would think, in Go Live, to open it and save it as another format, like yous say.

I'd suspect that if you have it and are familiar with it, MS word may be the product to use - if you wanna make a printed catalog out of webpages, with a few layout changes, it could come in handy ;-)

Hi, Jes,

Web wonk here. Depending on how you want to change the html page around, it would make more sense to make the layout changes in html, and then use Adobe Acrobat to print the html page to a PDF. Would this work for you? What kinds of layout changes are you trying to make? I'll be glad to take a look-see, and see what I can do.

Re: working with html files in adobe cs3

thanks for responding you guys..i'm not even sure yet if i have to change the html files, i was hoping to talk to tech support about the pdf to flash but they are not available until monday. i'm thinking what i could do is just make a simple page showing product and text, etc, with front page which is what i have now, and on monday i can ask tech support if they can convert it for me, (or just use the content) to make into pdf then into flash..hope i have that right:)

so i guess i gotta wait til monday darn it

Re: working with html files in adobe cs3

Just checked this one out at work for you (Graphics for publishing).

If we open an html file as a webpage and then 'print' it as a PDF then our version of Adobe Distiller converts is straight away to a normal PDF file.

Re: working with html files in adobe cs3

What Khadiya said will work if you have purchased Adobe Acrobat.

If you have NOT purchased Adobe Acrobat, you might want to get a free or low-cost PDF writer that installs itself to look like yet another printer. Once you have that, you use your browser to display the web page, pick the choice to print, and then from the list of available printers pick the PDF writer instead of your printer.

If you have the 2007 version of Microsoft Word, you can download a PDF converter that plugs into Word for free from the Microsoft web site. Otherwise, google for "free pdf writer" and some options will come up. I'm thinking about trying cutepdf, myself, for an older computer of mine that has an older version of Word.
