how to change font thru-out website

Is there a really simple easy way to change the font and size (and maybe even link color) on an entire website? I use FrontPage. Want to change so all pages are same font and same size text.

Also what font text is most readable? Times? Arial? And what size looks best without screaming?

There is, but you have to be using stylesheets. If you are not already using them, you will have to do a little work to get your site up to speed with it. I would be amenable to doing a little trade, if you don't have the time/inclination to fix it all yourself. *wink wink*

Arial to me is best, it's the most readable font.

1. As THTx says, it's good to be using stylesheets for just such an occasion. It is definitely worth the time and effort to get all your webpages using stylesheets, because it makes all sorts of global changes possible with fairly little effort -- it's the classic case of more time spent up front leading to scads of saved time later.

2. In general, sans-serif fonts have been found to be more readable on the screen than serif fonts. Serif fonts like Times and Georgia are pretty good for big headers, but not for paragraphs of text. Most people recommend Arial or Verdana for a body text font. (Trebuchet also has some proponents.)

3. Your default font size probably shouldn't be any smaller than 10pt, if your contrast is good, or 12pt, if the contrast is less good. Many people like to use relative type sizes in their stylesheets, so if you set the basic paragraph font to 10pt, then had headings that were 120% of that, you could later change your mind and switch to 12pt with very little work.

I agree, CSS is the way to go.

This said, you can make most global changes with a streaming editor such as "sed" (Unix, linux, Mac) with very little pain. This is what I do, as I have yet to change to CSS (some day?).

yeah, i often wish i did mine in css but it's just quicker to whip it up without, i'm just stubborn i guess...i should get in the habit. css is great for that!

Yep, I thought the same - and produced hundreds of pages on my own site without it because I could. When I finally bit the bullet it was a job too big. Now my site is a bastard half and half - which is not good advertising for a web geek - a bit like mechanic's cars I guess.

However, once you sort out you css it is VERY fast to develop new pages and everything is consistant, then that nice dancer who wanted a site in blue and yellow then after it was completed changed her mind can be made happy in seconds.

yes, that is very true...must convert my way of thinking...get with the times!!!!
