web acceleration issues?

Is anyone else having them? I didn't have any trouble whatsoever until I clicked to update Firefox. But that may just be a coincidence. Ive checked my modem and all that, everything is OK, satellite signal strength is good. I usually manually end all programs that I'm not using to free up memory. I just dunno. Maybe I need to upgrade my memory *again*.

Yeah.

Speaking as someone with *mumble* *mumble* years of Tech support under his belt, these kinds of issues are hell to diagnose without being there. Sadly, your best bet in many cases is to reboot, and if it's still an issue, call your Internet Provider. Sucks, but esp. with satellite Internet, I'd be wary of offering too much in the way of commentary...

Oh -- do make sure you're sweeping for viruses, spyware, and the like on a regualr basis! :)

Asim, Ive gone through the standard: make sure every thing's plugged in, rebooted, checked the firewall, scanned for viruses, freed up space on the hard disk, defragged, deleted unnecessary files, etc. Oh well, as long as its working.

Maybe DWay or Hughes Net now-is doing some maintenance with their satellite or something, shrugs.

Recently, a lot of the ISP's have been adding monitoring systems so they can comply with the new Homeland Security stuff, and it has slowed a lot of us down. For instance, my bellsouth dsl used to be pretty fast. They did "upgrades" <wink>. Now it's slowed down by about 30%.
I did a little investigation, using traceroute, and apparently, all my internet connections now loop through the main Atlanta office, twice, before going out to the www.
