It would appear that my Hotmail account (Wigglewhiz at hotmail dot com) has been hacked. I sure didn't pose myself a secret question in Chinese characters, that's for sure.
So just in case anyone's emailing me, or in case weird sh!t under my Bhuz log-in start appearing (in which case I will demand hacker blood), you can always get me at jenallen77 at hotmail dot com instead.
I've got MSN onto it by emailing their support dudes - anybody got any experience of this? Will I ever get my email account back again?
Thanks, Angelique! I'm really hoping to get my account back, because otherwise it's going to cause me quite a bit of hassle. I guess it's not a MAJOR drama, since I still have all my contact info stored in my Outlook Express and can re e-mail everyone from my gmail account... but still. It's a pain.
I got a totally useless automated response from MSN suggesting my problems may be solved if I upgrade to Windows Live Hotmail. WHICH I AM USING. Freaks. So I've replied to say "this doesn't resolve my issue of having someone HACK MY ACCOUNT" - apparently if I reply to their email it gets bumped into a special "Unresolved" queue and a technician will look at it at a matter of urgency. Mmmmm hmm. So we'll see.

I had SO much trouble with hotmail that I finally stopped using it. The great thing about it is the free aspect, but this is also the problem. With this kind of provider, you just don't get the protection you would with a paid provider. In the end, I got more spam than personal emails and finally went to a paid provider. I sure hope your experience does not turn out this way and that you can get the issue fixed.

wigglewhiz you are not alone.
Last week I lost my hotmail account (apparently I no longer know my own password) can't access it at all which means I lost all my contacts. it started out with my contacts receiving mail I never sent them and now its a no go zone.
I also contacted MSN support but they can't do much other than let the law enforcers know due to the privacy act. they said there has been a glut of hacking right now. its just really inconvenient.
When I moved house recently I changed my email to Hotmail. I t didn't work well for me so I changed to another provider. Is it possible to delete unused accounts?
My Hotmail account was hacked, too, last week, but i guess in my case could be different because i'm 99.9% sure to know who did it since my account on another board i've been a member more than a year ago was hacked, too, and i did not have the same hotmail address there as opossed to the same password.
Anyway,i've always considered Hotmail as a third class email and never had any serious mail delivered there.
I did not report my hotmail hacking to MSN since i seriously doubted they would take any action more than sending a generic acknowlegdmet email back.I just opened a new account on MSN Live.
I suggest you use gmail. I have been using it since it began, and it is great! I love their spam filters they are fantastic. I think in about 2 years I have had 2 spams get through to my outlook. The rest are caught at gmail and automatically deleted after 30 days.
I use to have a hot mail account and a yahoo one, they are painful, so they got the flick! but i also have an account with my ISP provider. It is just handy to have one you can access from the web if you are travelling and I highly recommend gmail.

I've just had one Gmail account opened very highly recommended by a serious computer systems specialist friend. He told almost the same as you do here regarding Gmail.
