Wedsite Review
I am looking for any constructive comments on my new website - what works well, what works badly, what would you change.
I am constraining the design (white, pink & stars) a bit so that it 'feels' a bit like my old website (so folk will know they are in the right place). I may change the design eventually to be a bit more Arabic looking. Though part of me still likes the kitch stars...
Do any of you remember the old website with the annoying spinning stars ?

Hi Caroline,
I don't believe I saw your old website. From this one though, I personally felt it was plain to look at but has good info. There was to much white and black and the color that is there isn't dark enough or eye catching enough. It needs something to pop and say "here I am".
I do like the picture on the front page but is there some way to enlarge it. I got the idea that you chose the colors for your site from your gorgous dress (I'd like it if you ever decide to sell it). If so, maybe the circles at the top could be a darker color of peach like the dress instead of soft pale pink. Just an idea.
Your map picture needs to be bigger and your photo on the about us needs to be bigger.
Hope that helps.
Michelle

Hi, I like that it looks clean and simple, but the pinks on the home page clash (sorry, I'm color-anal). I would make the circles the same peachy-pink color as the star and your costume...or make them a different color altogether. (duh, just now read Michelle's post).
The other thing is the pictures seem really small...if there's any way to enlarge all of them just a bit, I think it'd really help. And the first place I always go at a dancer's site is their gallery...but you don't have one!
I also have to scroll a smidge to see the bottom of the home page (don't know if that matters to you).
Anyways, sounds like it's come a long way since spinning stars! ;)
Good luck!

Thanks, I will change the pink and enlarge the pictures as soon as I get home.
I will then wait a respectful amount of time (so folk can get used to the new layout), and then I will keep the layout but change the whole colour scheme. I want something more Arabic looking.

caroline, i should prob start a new thread, but it would be about you and i'm shy.
i popped over to your personal website, and have a question about your "packages".
you have one where you offer several dances, leading to a show of 45 minutes? or longer? is that ONE set? or with breaks? do you get booked for those? for one dancer? just curious how you came to offer that. most clients here ever want (unless its business event and they want multiple dancers) is a half hour show.

I copied someone from bhuz almost completely in their pricing, tamara henna I think. I altered the offerings in line with feedback from local bhuzzer Zaphira, as people will use whatever I put on my side as a bargaining tool with all the other dancers in Edinburgh. Everything is in 15 minute sets. The 45 minutes show is 2 x 15 mins dance and 1 x 15 min break for me - I wanted to be clear that I wouldn't hang around all night to do 2 x 15 mins, and it would all be during a 45 min duration timeframe.
I will need to make it clearer.

ah, that makes sense! now it read to me as three dances, together 45 minutes. so yes, i would call them 'set's and mention the 'break'.
i've got something like two 15 minutes sets, with a break in between, and in email/phone i tell them the break should be min of 15 minutes, max 45 min
(my price for two sets is relative high, so i dont mind if the kind of party it is requires i wait that long in between)
