Speakers for non-ipod MP3 player?

I have a phone with a built-in mp3 player and an FM transmitter that meets all my music needs -- other than performance.

All the awesome mp3 speakers (like the bose sounddock) are set up to receive an ipod. But my phone has a different kind of hookup (kind of an awkward one, actually) like a headphone jack.

Do I *really* have to spend a couple of hundred dollars on an ipod just to be able to get a great speaker for it? OR is there a good portable speaker out that that accepts other kinds of input?

I have an mp3 player that can utilize computer speakers. Most any small computer speaker jacks fit into headphone slots.

Many portable speakers take input from the mp3 player's headphone jack. E.g., my JBL OnTour have a cable that does just that. If you carefully check the item's description, it should be possible to find out which speakers are suitable.

Quick PS.: I had to check on Amazon, since I wasn't quite sure. The Sounddock can be used with other mp3 players according to the description. (I shouldn't look at these things, though, I want one really bad!!!)

Hi Lauren,

I just have lots of 1/8 inch stereo cords around. The stereo cord is the most widely used today and you don't have to worry about if you have an Ipod or any othe Ipod like device- the stereo cord fit in all.

At some point perhaps all boomboxs or stereos will come with Itunes or some similar system built in so that you can simply download all your music to your stereo and not have to mess with cds at all.

Take care, Rick
