CD to MP3 software picks?

Does anyone have any recommendations for software to convert from audio CD to MP3?

I'm a total noob to MP3s

I use CD Ex; you can download it for free, and I've never had any trouble with it.

Are you only interested in getting tracks from a CD into specifically MP3 format? Or are you looking for a kind of end-to-end solution that takes tracks off of CD's, rips them into a digital format, organizes them, allows you to burn playlists to CD, integrates with a digital music player, etc?

If it's the first case, Ahava's suggestion of CD Ex is a good choice, if it's the second, I agree with steffi, iTunes rocks.

iTunes. In the preferences, you can set it to import as mp3.
Also, if you're posting music anywhere, make sure you have permission to do so from the musicians, as you may run into copyright infringement issues.

Anything that is free. Windows Media player now does it free now but you have to set it up and it wasn't obvious to figure out how to do it. It gives an error message but luckily I found out you need to turn something on when searching on Google.
