MP3 player recommendations?
I dont want another iPod after mine broke less than a year after owning it, and for other reasons.
Anyone have any recommendations? Id like one that plays vidoes, but its not necessary, and looking at the prices of these things, I think that 4G of storage is more than plenty for my purposes.

Re: MP3 player recommendations?
I bought my husband the Zune for x-mas and he still loves that thing. He uses it everyday at the gym and when he goes running.

Re: MP3 player recommendations?
This thread has some good info: Recommendations - mp3 players
I have a Clix (mentioned on that thread, I believe): http://www.iriver.com/product/p_detail.asp?pidx=79
My husband is an expert with all this stuff (has a Shuffle, Nano, and two regular IPods, bought the Clix to develop software for it, then handed it over to me) and is looking at stuff right now for you. He said that for the $, the Nano is a better deal because of the GB capacity.
But, since you're not interested in IPod products, the Clix is a great option. I'm super happy with it and mine is a Gen1, so the new one should be even better. I have all kinds of dance music on it, playlists, podcasts, and even a Doris Day movie (though the framerate isn't the best).
There's also this site: Anything But iPod - MP3 Player Reviews & News
Let me know if you have any questions - I (and my techie husband) will be happy to tell you what we know.

Re: MP3 player recommendations?
I bought my first mp3 after christmas after much hand wringing and reading up on ipods/sony/etc, I've gone for a Creative Zen and love it. Picture and sound quality are great.

Re: MP3 player recommendations?
I got a Zune in Nov for my b-day and it is fabulous! I don't know how I did without it. Plus, the start up and software are very user-friendly.

Re: MP3 player recommendations?
I love my little Creative Zen Stone, but I think it's a little basic for what you're looking for. The regular 4 gig Zen might be right up you alley, though.

Re: MP3 player recommendations?
My husband bought a little MP3 player that also has built-in maps/directions. It has performed really well on giving us directions to wherever we were going. He likes his iPod better for listening to audio books, but he's really happy with the navigation in this, and he does use it instead of the iPod when he travels and wants the navigation.
Let me know if this sounds like something you'd like, and I can find out the brand/model of his.

Re: MP3 player recommendations?
I also have a Creative Zen and love it. The best part is that if you figure out that 4GB isn't enough for you (trust me, it's not...but comes in 8, 16, & 32 as well), it has an SD card slot as well.

Re: MP3 player recommendations?
Yes, they are compatible. My husband uses Windows and has multiple iPods. He doesn't use iTunes, though. We use Media Center to organize everything (music, video, photos). He says you can get Media Jukebox (music only) for free. (Both Media Center and Media Jukebox are through JRiver.)

Re: MP3 player recommendations?
Creative Zen has made my life very very happy :)
If you have extra SD memory cards around, you can more than double your player's capacity.
