Going to LA and looking for advice

I won this trip to see the season finale of American Idol so dh and I are going together next month! Exciting stuff!!!

But I would LOVE to check out some great belly dance shops or shows while in town. We have never been to LA and I am a bit nervous to drive around since I've heard traffic is crazy. I saw the laraqs website but I just thought I'd post to see if anyone can offer any must see stores or restaurant shows while out there.

Is the driving that crazy and difficult? I am used to driving in traffic but I don't think on the level that is out there.

I'm in the Midwest (Illinois), so sorry I don't have any advice/suggestions, etc. I just wanted to say:

Traffic is crazy in that's it's VERY heavy (always during rush hour, but also at random), but it's not like driving around in a third world country with no lanes and no speed limits. As long as you drive safely you'll be fine.

What weekend are you coming out?

Thanks for the suggestions. We are going to be out there May 20-24th. We are actually staying in Hollywood. I'm just getting more details as the trip becomes closer. :)

hmmm...that's the weekend after RAQS LA. Moun of Tunis is in Hollywood (Sunset & Gardner) and has dancers nightly. Don't have much on the Calendar now for those dates, but I'll let you know if anything pops up. :)
