Nile Group Festival June 2008 - who's going?

I booked my flight today to go to Cairo for the Nile Group Festival in June (will be in Cairo June 13-28).

I'd LOVE to meet some fellow bhuzzers in the flesh! Don't get much of a chance to do that here in Korea

Yay! I'll be there as well, along with my friend Nefertiti! We'll be in Cairo from June 9 - 23rd.

We will definitely meet up - it will be great to meet you!

Already thinking of 2009???? April is not too bad . . . I've never been in November so I am actually thinking about that time frame . . . BUT if you do go, I might have to go with you, hehe!! I've got more connections now, sooooooooooooooooo . .

I've been in 7 Nilegroup festivals so far, and my favorite one's are always November !!! for many reasons, less crowded, nicer weather less expensive tickets

That's why I think November would be a good time to go! But some ppl say too cold, lol, Cairo is never as cold as it gets around here and they always give you lots of blankets.

Hi, Outi!! Well, I still have yet to meet you even though I was there in April this time, LOL! I have been in Cairo a few times in Feb. and March too . . . usually the end of Feb. and I don't think it is too bad, but it usually gets really warm when I come anyway!! I think it happens that way just for me . . . it will be 90F at the Pyramids in Feb.

Yeah ... I'm not looking forward to the heat myself. This was an impromptu trip. I'm also going to Cairo in Nov when I'll be taking some more time for touring as the weather will be more agreeable. I really don't like heat - one reason I moved to Korea from Australia! ;)

Anyways .... looking forward to meeting Fatima and Nefertiti in June! YAY!

She's lucky I like her, because I'm threatening to shove her in Cairo traffic right now!

We'll see if this actually happens, I'm not feeling very brave right now.

Fatima, I know exactly what you mean... There is almost a month until the festival and i already have butterflies in my stomack. Istn't it ridiculous? :)
I keep reminding myself that all this perfomance is just for fun. A lot of people put too much pressure on themselves and seeing these performances as triumth or total faliur experience, rather than looking at it as experience. Well, maybe because I'm from the East originally and we are brought up in a way "I gonna be one of the best or I dodn;t even get up on stage". I hope I'm not yaking too much, sorry

So i'm going even for 4 days at the June festival

Not staying at the Pyramissa as its full booked, staying at the Greek Embassy.
I'll arrive Thursday for Yousry Sharif workshop :D
Lets look for eachother !!!
I think i'm gonna perform with live band at the Saturday show.
A small chance if a dancer from greece come to be in the competition with a Saidi duet.

hi Aya!
I have a little question re the teachers at the Nile group.
It's going to be 3rd time I'm going there but I think you definitely have more experience :)
What would be the top teachers you would recommend to visit? E.g. you mentioned Yousry Sharif and I never even though of him as I didn't know his name. So I read about him on Nile group page and he does sound very interesting!

I'll be there too ! I'm coming with my sister who's never been in Egypt so I will not take many workshops, we'll visit instead. But I want to go to see how the festival is organized, and if I like it I may go again in november with a group of students.

The teachers I don't want to miss are Tito and Yousry. For me Yousry is the very best in the world, I can travel a lot for a workshop with him ! Tito is fantastic too.

I also want to go to Nour and Liza Laziza's workshops, because I already took privates with both of them and like them a lot too.

Now there are also many less famous teachers that I do not know but who are probably very interesting too. A friend of mine who went several times to festivals in Egypt told me it's best to take the workshops with unknown teachers because they are less crowded and can be very good.

I'll be happy to meet some of you, and if you want we may go to the pyramids together !
