Folktours - do they confirm registration?

I registered for the US Folktours camp through PayPal last Friday, but I have not received any confirmation other than the PayPal receipt. Is that normal?

And, what do people bring there? I am perfectly comfortable staying in bunks, but I am unsure about the following:

1. Can one BYOB?

2. Can I pay vendors in plastic?

3. I assume no wireless internet?

4. What do people wear when partying at night?

Re: Folktours - do they confirm registration?

I think when i went it took a few days before i got the confirmation.

I have no idea what BYOB is ...

no wireless internet , it is a lot like going to summer camp , nothing fancy.
lots of great people, lots of great music and dance.

I dont think any of the vendors there took credit cards. I was able to buy a very beautiful used costume from one of the teachers, she did sell it to me for a great price( the cash i had left) cause i didnt have USchecks and did not bring a lot of money with me, and you might find some bargain in the swap items participants bring on the saturday or sunday night.

At night I saw a lot of long skirts and melodia ( or melodia like ) pants, people dressed nicely but very casual. It was very warm when I was there, but one time it was cold so they do advse to bring sweaters in case the evnings get a little chilly.

my mother is sick and cant take care of my son so I cant go ths year : (
so have a great time !

Re: Folktours - do they confirm registration?

Last time I was there (too long ago!) all the major vendors took credit cards, but you'll want cash or checks at least for the swap. Night-time partiers ran the gamut from bellydance glam -- even glammer than regular glam, ya know -- to tribal funky to T-shirts and jeans, so wear whatever you like and can dance in. And there were lots of Bs being BYO'd, if I recall correctly through the convivial haze....

1. Yes, definitely.
2. I think some of the bigger vendors might maybe accept plastic (not sure???), but some teachers might be selling DVDs or CDs and might not, so bring cash/checks.
3. No internet that I know of.
4. Anything they like (some people wear jeans and a t-shirt, others like to dress up). Just make sure you can dance in whatever you wear!

I'm not sure if Tayyar is sending confirmation for registration this year. See you there!

Re: Folktours - do they confirm registration?

Ah, thanks!

As it turns out, my registration caused me a few hours of panic: They didn't have my name because I used my husband's credit card, and on top of that, communicating by email in English between a Turk (Tayyar) and a German (me) added to me getting close to tears ;-) but it all got sorted out.

Anyways, that was useful! I will bring cash and plastic, a bit of wine, lots of Gatorade, and basically, dress the way I feel comfortable for dancing all night - asking seemed like a good idea: I learned at Pennsic that it is polite to contribute the atmosphere and not stand out like a sore thumb by letting out my eccentric side ;-) Too bad about the internet - my friends who can't make it have been hoping that I'd blog every night to share the fun with them.

Woooheeee, I can't wait ;-)
