How long do I wait?

I put a costume up for sale on the swap meet 2 weeks ago, and eventually someone said they were interested. That was 8 days ago, and she hasn't been in touch with me at all - no responses to my PM's or anything. Am I now within my rights putting the set up for sale again?

I would send one last email message that says "If I don't hear from you by the end of the day, it's going back up on the swap pages."

8 days is too long when you've got quite a lot of salivating bhuzzers with money to spend who will pay you the same day!

All right, it's back up, because I already did do that, to no avail! So come on, big spender (well, medium-sized spender).

Leela:

I was going to hold my tongue on this one, but every time I see it, I feel this compulsion to reply.

It isn't fair to put an item for sale and someone say they are interested in it and then sit on it with no communication what so ever. Other people are interested in your item(s).

If you answered their question(s) and you don't hear from them within a 24 hour period, they aren't that interested in it, IMO. That's just me though. If I want something and I have first dibs on it, I better say yes or no right away because there are others who are just as interested in the sale item as me.

I've fortunately only had this situation once with an LRose skirt. Believe it or not!

I say first person who COMMITS to buying gets it. There is no ambiguity there.

This was after someone was posting all over the place that they wanted things held then wouldn't follow through on the purchase.

Most of us aren't retailers, we just want the extra cash to buy other stuff.

I am going to put my cents worth of opinion in even though I just joined! Most online shops, auctions & other forums require payment within 3 days. If this person has not contacted you in two weeks, I think you have been more than fair. Hopefully, your costume with sell quick!!

Here here!!!!!!
I agree with all of the above. If she had wanted it that badly I think you would have heard from her on the same day she said she wanted to buy it. I don't think you'll have trouble trying to sell it again.

I agree that if you want something you should definetely respond to the seller fast. But ladies please keep in mind we're not all in the US or in the same time zone and don't all have internet access at home and at the day job. So what I'm trying to say is if someone has first dibs on your item I believe it's fair to give that person a max of 48 hours or so to reply.

Yep, I lost out on a silver loop because my computer crashed and I was without Internet for a week. My loss was another's gain.
