I am on the hunt for some costumes and I am running into some issues (more personal - ha ha).

1 - what ever happened to the traditional Egyptian bra/belt sets? Everywhere I look, bra and belts are out and the skirt/bra style is in. I guess this is just the fashion trend for now :-)

2 - I have been to Cairo and I know how much this stuff costs. Why does a simple bra and belt need to be marked up 400-800%! I am a vendor (of bellydance accessories and skirt/veils) so I understand the price padding. Plus you have all the customs fees you have to pay. I so understand and have had to pay them myself.

There was a time when I would drop big $$ on costumes until I went to Egypt. Now, I am ruined

Try Dancing Rahana--if you want a fairly traditional Egyptian bra/belt set for under $400. I have seen a bunch. It's what I like, too. Being short, most costumes with the skirts built in are WAY too long.

Contact amani_C (she's on the 1st page of my friends). We have a lot of bedlah sets and they're very reasonably priced...
