Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
I know the past week has been brutal. I simply gave up and ate with wild abandon. Normally I eat a very controlled diet...all natural, healthy stuff.
Well, I was doing good until people started giving me homemade baklava and chocolate chip cookies and then it was downhill from there. I got on the scale today and put on nearly 6 pounds!!
Time to get my cardio on on top of my drills. So glad the holidays are over and people aren't sending me treats.

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
My little French DIL went shopping for french chocolates and brought nearly a pound of them into my house. A plate of fudge from a colleague was accompanied with a magnet that says - give the dangerous ***** her chocolate. I have put away my scale till 2010.
Oh please, we can type n word ( I just did) - but not the b word? Who made up that rule?Last edited by anala; 12-29-2009 at 01:43 PM.

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
I have put on so much weight so quickly since Thanksgiving that I don't even want to get on a scale. I had a doctors appointment last week and when they weighed me I teared up. How is it possible to gain so much weight so quickly.

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
We do not do Christmas here, but we are planning New Year holiday. I am already getting scared. I slave myself on elliptical 90 min a day. I hope I will be able to stop on 1 slice of cake and thats IT.
I am mentally preparing myself to just say no and visualizing myself in a gorgeous Madame Abla number LOOOOOL My mantra will be "Just say no, just say no, just say no.... "
I hate the fact that we can gain weight so quickly, but to lose it we have to almost kill ourselves!!!! It sucks!!!

Amani

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
I can't bear to look at the scales, but I know I gained!
I just ate a home made caramel my sister made for me, as I read through this thread.
I will say that most of the treats I received...I took to my Mom's, and accidentally left them there.
(They have a lot of teenagers coming in and out of the house)
:-)

In my family, it goes on into January because there are also birthdays. So I'm still holding on and trying to resist as much as possible. But I'm not too successful either ;)

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
on the plus side of gaining this much weight: i found out what my max. allowable weight is before i start to get the beginning of a FUPA. my dad has a deal with my mom that if he breaks a certain weight she has to kill him in his sleep and if she turns into her mother he has to kill her. i found the weight that im not allowed to go over. my friend is charged with killing my if i get a FUPA and it's not within a year of giving birth.
im still shocked that around 15lbs can fit into just 4 cm of girth. T_T

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
You guys are gonna hate me, but I know better than to even start with the sugary, fatty treats. I'm an all or nothing kind of a gal. It works for me. I stay the same weight year in and year out. But I'm "special."..c:: ,r:; By that I mean I REALLY can;t afford to start eating treats. If I do I won't stop until I'm pushing 180 lbs. on a slender frame - it's not a pretty picture. Plus I get terrible acid reflux when I eat that stuff, get metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, etc etc.

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
I have been doing OK, so far... However, tomorrow the test of temptation will come when those New Year cakes arrive. Plus it is my husband's and I wedding anniversary. Ten years together and get this he NEVER gained a pound, his BMI is perfect and I am so jealous LOOOOOL (lovingly of course).
I slave myself 90 min a day on elliptical and let me tell ya it's hard, it hurts and I know I have to keep going and make it like a normal part of my life.
Hugs,
Amani

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
I've been giving sweets away to the neighbors and the kids on my block. A co-worker stopped by the other day with a bag full of home made cookies. I kept a third of it and gave the rest away. If I don't keep it in the house I can keep some of my sanity. The holiday break has actually been pretty good to me. I was sick the first few days, but that was my body telling me that I needed to slow down, so I did. The rest I've been sewing, listening to some new potential solo music and visiting with friends. The de-stress has done me good. :::Whispers::: I actually lost three pounds::: Not braggin, just happy.
Just remember that tomorrow is a new day, and start there.
Shimmies!

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
Whoa! I've been away from buzz for a month or two and the fitness/nutrition category has its own forum??? Dunya's changing her name?
Missed everyone. I too indulged in the holidays after a quite diciplined eating lifestyle for 4 months. I was fine until I started eating the crap again. I didn't even miss the junk until I ate with abandon over Christmas. Now I have the craving again. How long will it take to get rid of the urge again? All that hard work and you'd think a cheat week would be okay after 120 days of very healthy eating sheesh!

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
OMG! Fupa!! ..l;,
I'd kill myself if I ever got so big that my fupa was hanging down to my knees.
On the plus side: Back on my "abstinent" eating plan which is basically sugar free and gluten free. Dairy free to. I have bad reactions to all those foods, but I just love them so. I'm going through sugar withdrawals after my two week binge-fest. It's not pretty.
Hookednovice: A cheat week is never easy to manage. I thought the same thing. My cheat week turned into cheat weeks.

Mmm. Baklava.
Lindt chocolates. Ferrero Rocher. Boticelli Hedgehogs.
Gotta feed my FUPA. It has a mind of its own.

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
I have survived the temptation of cakes. I managed to have very little of each and not go over my calorie limit. It was hard, but I had to do it LOL I remembered my aching muscles from the elliptical LOOOL

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
i run behavioral weight loss interventions and there are 2 things that my participants find to be the most helpful with losing weight. They are weighing yourself daily (I know this doesn't sound fun but, if you weigh daily then you can catch youself at 1-2 pounds up and make changes to get that weight off before its 5-10 pounds) and second, keeping a diary of everything you eat and drink (also not so fun but it's really THE most helpful thing to do for weight loss).

Re: Merry Stinkin' Christmas!
Don't beat up on yourself. I heard once that the average person puts on 7 lbs between Thanksgiving and New Years. It's all those sweets, alcohol, and food.
Now that the holidays are over, you can get back to your normal routine and diet. I know I'm looking forward to that as well!!
