    Shake Weight

Have you all seen that free weight that sort of looks like your giving it a hand job? It's called a shake weight and its supposed to target your triceps/shoulders. As I have horrendous "wings" or underarm flab, I'm always willing to try out things. Have any of you tried the shake weight?

Unfortunately, you can't spot reduce anything on your body. You'd be better off just getting dumbbells and doing tricep extensions as well as doing whatever is you prefer for overall fat-loss.

Yeah, I'd just do aerobics to loose overall body fat and also doing regular arm weight lifting. Get some of those cheap ankle weights (can be used on wrists too!) and/or some 5 or 10 lb weights to work out with at home.

Every time I see the commercial for that thing, all I can think is that it looks vaguely "dirty".

    "Vaguely"?

I couldn't use it because I would be laughing too much. And you know, if you really can tone your triceps by giving a hand job, well...

My hubby and I saw the commercial for it yesterday or the day before. He immediatly burst out laughing because of how it looked. I don't think it would work. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Okay, it's not at all vague. I was trying to be a little proper...g.:

And I am proof positive that giving hand jobs does not help tricep definition. Alas.

    Re: Shake Weight

Performing a vigorous hand job would provide more toning benefits than this thing. This product is just the latest in a very long line of contraptions that claim to get you in shape without any effort. It's pure snake oil, just like everything that came before it - machines you lie on that shake parts of you, "reducing" suits, and so on.

If you want more definition in your arms, try serious weight training. Push presses, dips, pushups, shoulder presses, chin-ups (with support if you can't get up to the bar, which many of us can't). Vinyasa yoga is nice for the arms, too.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Handjob LOOOOOL Girl you are hilarious.

Well, I am also working to tone up and honestly I have heard it many times that in order to do it you need cardio and weight training.

You can do tricep exercises all you want, but if you don't lose the fat, you're not going to see any of the muscle underneath.

    Re: Shake Weight

There are lots of tricep exercises--bench dips, kickbacks, tricep pushups... The thing is to lose excess weight and build those muscles.

Unfortunately, sometimes it can't really be helped. I'm very skinny, quite fit, and still have more flappage than I'd like.

Leela, burpies are tough! If you suffer through them consistently though, you do get stronger.

Those shake weights are too funny-looking, even if they were effective.
