Thread: Shimmy Drills on Wii Fit

OMG! I know I don't post much here, I'm more of a lurker, but I was playing with my new wii fit today and did the 10 minute free run and discovered how amazing it is for shimmy drills!

If you put the controller in your hip band or pocket, you can do a simple hip shimmy and it registers that you are running. You can visually tell when you break your shimmy because the runner will slow down or go really fast! Avoid quivers or vibrations because the runner will fall. Otherwise, it really monitors how well you hold your shimmy!

Anyway, just wanted to share with those who have wii fit :)

The hula hoop exercise is great to work on hip circles and umis. If also use hip slides on the tightrope exercise.

haha thanks for the compliments on my genius-ness *bows* haha! and i never thought of the hip slides on the tight rope! that's excellent, i'll have to try it tonight. i bet it's a good way to work on lockdowns (Jillina's terminology) and the hula hoop is good for hip circles too! i tried the ami with it, but it didn't work to well...hmmm. i'll see what else i can find tonight and post them here!

They should have Wii fit for bellydancers :-D

I keep telling my husband that they should come out with a bellydance game for wii fit. But he tells me that it would be hard to market. On the contrary..there are 2 Hula dance games for wii fit >:(

Oh cool. Im gonna have to try that! I got a Wii for x-mas and I dont really like it. My hubby bought it for the Wii Yoga... Yuck. But this has potential!

yeah the yoga on the wii fit kinda sucks, so does the strength training.

I did the shimmy-run thing when we first got the wii fit (christmas gift from his parents) and my boyfriend told me I was cheating!! ..c::

well is he aware of the insane number of bellydance beginner and workout dvds out there compared with hula ones???? a 3:1 ratio is VERY conservatively estimated.

If they do that I am so getting the thing. Or maybe even without it I may be ,r:; there again I just rediscovered step aerobic through Kim Kardashian's workout dvd series which is surprisingly nice. Am buying me a step tomorrow.

I knew there was a good reason to get Wii Fit! Time to start saving money.

hahaha yeah i still play around with a few of the things on the wii, but so far i haven't found another fantastic belly dance hack. at least i found a great one that will make me famous ;)

I have a couple of friends who help design video games -EA Games and Nintendo- who should know about this need. I'm sure they are swamped with ideas for games, but if they want video games ideas for women, I bet this one would entice a lot of people.

I am such a dork because I totally want NPR to do a story on this.

On Wii Fit Plus you can use choo choo shimmy to move forward faster on the obstacle course! Keeps you from stepping too heavy, too, b/c the balance board will cut off and send you back to the beginning and make you start over. Have not figured out anything for the knee-bend/jumping part of it!
