Hehehe - a FAT office! I've worked in some of those! Luckily at my current job, that is not a problem for which I am grateful, as I was one of those who always had to have "just one" about five times a day!!

I will search and destroy, lie, steal and cheat to find the hidden chocolate. God forbid you should leave it just layin around like it is some sort of benign snack, for God's sake!

    Me like this memo

Isn't it just a pain in the royal petooty when after the holydays, people clear their home from Christmas time sugar treats and... bring them into the office's kitchen!..c::

It's like saying, "not only in my thighs body, in yours too, he, he, he!"

What really funny and yet eye-opening is how long the cake and cookies sit around since I've given up sugar/wheat/processed food. If was still entertaining my binge problem, that stuff would be gone forever ago.

In my past job they had a "grazing" table by our cubes. I kid you not - for two months it was officially called "Grazing Days".

It was a daily fight not to eat things on that damned table. I started bringing in veggie plates and chips and salsa to fight the daily deluge of cookies and fudge. Soon people were bringing in bread bowls full of dip and other "healthy" stuff.

And here I have a full tin (well... somewhat mostly full tin) of Lambertz European Chocolate Cookie Collection (an assortment of 12 fine European Chocolate cookies - With Belgian Chocolate) sitting on my desk, having been brought in by one of my Anthropology students early last week special just for me. BTW the net weight is listed as 2 lbs, 13.9 oz (1300g). Last week was bad. I had three cookies each day last week. Between that and the lunches I had been having I put on the 2 lbs I'd lost since Christmas PLUS 2 more. ugh! This week, so far, I've broken down twice (one cookie one day, three on another). Still have today to get through (and tomorrow).

I once worked at a place that had the kitchen nearby so being friends with the employees there, they would want me to sample some new ideas they came up with. So how could I refuse? This went on for a couple of years, adding ten pounds to my weight! I don't know what it would've been if I didn't go to the gym three times a week.

Wel, it's better than cake. People where I work are good at bringing in leftover cake, cheesecake...and such. At least a cookie is contained in a small package.

Oh Ally, I so feel your pain. It seems that my co-workers have been bringing food to the office to share since we came back from the holidays. Yesterday it was fresh baked bread with homemade jam! I had my door closed all day. People thought that I was mad at somebody but I told them that I was on deadline for a project (which was true.) Bringing healthy snacks helps me stay honest. It's amazing what a few grapes can do.

LOL! I love the cookie monster!

Thanks, Tammy. High-fives to you. I resisted. I was only tempted for a couple of minutes and then I'd move on to other things. Still, damn carbs hanging out in my kitchen. I gotta pass them to get to the fridge. I feel like the Carb Gods are taunting me.

The cookies are indeed very powerful, but my will and determination to become more fit and a better dancer are waaaay more powerful. I promised myself a Bella or a new Pharonics when I get to my goal.

Unless it's a giant cookie, wide as a cake, from Mrs. Field's~ such as the one currently on my co-workers desk.

I know what you mean....it's hard to resist when it's all right there. And having cravings induced by what you overhear is tough too!

Here's my recipe for a chocolate chip/coconut bar. It satisfies the craving for a cookie, but is healthier--no butter or oil. The fat is via peanut butter and the sweetness comes from honey and brown sugar rather than just refined sugar. It's made of oats instead of flour, so that's a health boost too. They really are good, and though they aren't low-cal, are a healthier choice than a regular cookie.

They are better within a couple hours of baking, since there's no fat other than the peanut butter. The longer they sit, the drier they get.

Several weeks ago, my cafeteria started a new "It's cold outside, come warm up with us and our new HOT cookies every afternoon!" campaign.

Last Thursday, the cafeteria's home office sent a rep to our complex to ask what they could do better. The first thing I said? "Get rid of the darn cookies!!!!! I can smell the melting chocolate all the way to my office!"

Jujube thanks for this! It will come in handy when I get my sugar cravings during that special time of the month.
