tailbone pain?
I have no idea how it happened, I don't remember falling down, but my tailbone feels bruised...the bone part not muscle ..it's so painful I can't sit and rising to get out of a chair is excruciating.
it was sore a few days ago but of course I kept dyeing silks which involves a lot of bending so I'm assuming now it's inflamed.
Am on bed rest right now..anyone have an idea of what it could be? it's not sciatica I know what that feels like, it's right on the tailbone at the end..the bone part.
SUCKS! my doc is in Hawaii and Arizona doesn't have kaiser

Re: tailbone pain?
I had a "mystery" tailbone/coccyx problem about a year ago, and I hate to say it lasted over a year. Everything was very difficult, including dancing and I suffered for it (not to mention how exhausting it is to be in constant pain).
Strangely, it seemed to miraculously just go away by itself after some time (again, it took over a year). I did happen to find a sports injury doctor in the area who had a specialty in that area, and he did a manual re-alignment attempt, which did seem to help but not cure the problem. He also prescribed an anti-inflammatory which gave me some slight relief. I had a special tailbone cushion that I purchased and carried everywhere. I even had to use it in my car when driving. You can find these online, and find a lot of additional information at coccydynia: coccyx (tailbone) pain: causes, coping and cures
GOOD LUCK - I sure hope it goes away quickly!

Re: tailbone pain?
Don't know if this helps, but my back pain feels like it's my tailbone. I had a cat scan and I have two disks on the verge of prolapse! Unfortunately they won't do anything until I prolapse. The doctor only started to take notice when I lost feeling in my left leg as they tend to just ignore back pain if you are overweight! Turns out that because of dancing, my butt is so strong that when my back is not good, the muscles 'clench' and it cuts off some of the blood supply to my left leg!!
I had been previously told to stop dancing by a doctor but obviously that made things worse and I put on 60kg in a year, think that's about 150 pounds.... When I went to a physio, he told me to go straight back and do beginner drills. So I got the opportunity to teach a class at a university and within 3 weeks most of the pain was gone. I had been flat on my back for months and had so many anti-inflamitories and opiates in my system that my life was just a cycle of sleeping and pain.
I had some strict rules from the doctor though, not to bend over or carry anything for 2 weeks. Made me basically useless but it really did work. I also found practicing my shimmy great too as it forces you to relax your muscles.
I definately got better after seeing a physio so if you want some advice right away then go see one!
Hope you feel better soon, I know how crazy back pain can make you xxx
