    Jillian Michaels Program

So, I have done many a program in my life with no success. I gained weight on Weight Watchers (but liked the simplicity of the program) and Jenny Craig. Aktins and other protein diets made me physically sick. I have tried "just eating right" and every diet pill known to man. All failed.

I am now putting myself out there again to see if this one works. I just signed up for Jillian Michaels program online. I like that I get a meal plan and can change to different stuff if I don't like it (and I don't like alot of stuff). I also like that finally a program told me that I am suppose to be eating more carbs then protein for my body type and metabolism (or lack thereof).

There is also a weekly workout plan that is mostly circut training, one day of choose your own cardio, and two days off. I am a little ticked that due to an injury that I ignored while getting ready for competition, I can't start the workout plan (or dance) for three weeks. I plan on using the time to get use to the "cooking" thing that I don't normally do and get my cane to stay on my head. Perhaps not at the same time tho.

My question is this, has anyone else out there tried this plan? Did it work for you? She is my favorite trainer on the Biggest Looser so hopefully just the thought of her will get me up off my a$$ and stop me from eating off plan (or more to the point, actually eating all the calories I am suppose to). So anyone else out there doing this?

I have no experience with her programs, though my friend is using her video and book and *loves* her. She doesn't have the internet at home so I know it's not that particular program. I can ask details, if you'd like.

(Not super helpful, but at least you know someone else appreciates Jillian as you do!)

    Re: Jillian Michaels Program

I have been working out with Jillian Michaels three days a week alternating her cardio dvd and no more trouble zones on Fit TV on Demand (her dvds are available online and at stores alslo) for about a month. I have seen some nice changes in my body and have hardly changed my diet (although a low fat diet may help more). I also teach bellydance twice a week and dance at a restaurant 1/2 days a week so I add that to my workout. If you have on Demand try the workouts - especially Jillian Michaels, Cindy Whitmarsh and Jackie Warner. They are a bit tougher than the other programs but well worth it if you can commit to at least 3 days a week. Some exercises are still difficult for me like mountain climers/plank twist but I do only as many as I can. Good luck.

BTW since you have a injury there are also other programs On Demand that are much more low impact. I say though don't waste your money on a food program. You know what is good/bad for you!

9 POUNDS DOWN! Water weight I know, but I have never had this reaction to a new diet before so I am excited. The scale is finally moving in the right direction for the first time in 2 yrs!

Jillian is hardcore!! I would think you would get good results if you follow it. My challenge is in sticking with it. I have one of her workout DVDs, I need to pull it out, thanks for the reminder :)

btw, congrats on the 9 lbs, doesn't it feel good when your weight is going in the direction you want??

    Hugs, you inspire me.

11 pounds so far. I haven't weighed in this week yet so we shall see tomorrow. I don't expect great things this week as I had one of those days yesterday and the siren song of doughnuts could not be ignored.

    Re: Jillian Michaels Program

I'm doing the 30-Day Shred dvd right now, until I can get back to the gym and start doing Crossfit WODs again. I love it! It's truly tough, unlike the new Firm videos, and the Crunch Bootcamp one, which are all pansy workouts. I don't bother with diets, I just eat healthfully - no processed food, no red meat, no sugar, little wheat, lots of plants. I have seen my body start to look better, though since I'm only 3 months from having a baby, it's reacting more slowly than it would normally. And I'm skipping the abs for now, until my small diastasis closes. Otherwise, I think this is a perfect postpartum workout (a few months out, not a few weeks!).

A couple of things about this video, though:

    1) It's weird to me that she does jumping jacks in the warmup. We were told in AFAA's Group Fitness cert that impact exercises should never be part of a warmup, and the instructor used jacks as an example of wrong. So I make sure to do some extra warmup beforehand.

    2) Are we supposed to do this every single day? I need a rest day once in a while!

my roommate loss 10 lbs in the past onth with a combo of southbeach and jillian michaels' dvd. she says that it only requires 20 min. a day. And the food she cooks always smells yummy.
I think I'm gonna get on board after I get back from vacation.

Actually, you are supposed to do Shred every other day and something else in between. She's not very clear about that. This was a discussion on another forum.
